    2. Phil Cochran
    3. I have done research in Winooski in the past and they have records that go back quite a ways. I've never asked them to do any research for me, so I don't know about that or what they charge. As to church records, there is St. Francois Xavier church which was the French church and was founded in 1868. The American Canadian Genealogical Society in Manchester NH has published the Marriage and Burial records, for St. Francois. I have a copy and checked for Saltus and didn't find anything. But I also know that the old records weren't either kept well or complete, because I know some of my ancestors are buried there but are not listed. There is also St. Stephen's in Winooski, which was the Irish church I believe, and I don't know if they have a cemetary. If anyone wants something looked up in the St. Francois books I will gladly do it though it may take me some time as I am very busy right now with work and home, but I will try. Remember though the records don't start till 1868 and are mainly French Canadian families. I can be e-mailed at pacochran29@hotmail.com.

    3. --WebTV-Mail-11980-203 Content-Type: Text/Plain; Charset=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7Bit Hi Jackie, I also, am searching for records in Burlington of ancestors. I will look up the address of the Catholic Diosese, in Burlington, and they looked up Death & Burial records for me and sent dates, but I went home in '92 and '98 and couldn't find my relatives in St. Joseph's Cemetery where they were listed in the Diosese Book of Burials, unless they are with other members of our family and no markers on it for them--they had come over from Ireland in the early 1800's, but it's worth a try for you---"Best of Luck" in your search. As for Winooski, I can't help you, but maybe in the Social Security Death Index, might have some info for you---worth a try. I found in Burlington the city clerks' office in the City Hall, had more info than any where..so maybe the city clerk's office in Winooski could help you or could be in the Burlington office--I don't know.. Benajah Place's son, Job, went to Hinesburg, Chittenden Co., around 1800 (I have the date but not in my mind) . If Benajah Case is a descendant, I'd like to have as much info as you can send me. Benajah Place had several daughters. I suspect that they all ended up in Vermont (I know of a couple who did). One could well have married a Case. John Folsom Orlando, FL

    1. Benajah Case - circa 1800
    2. Sue Edwards
    3. Hello, I am new to this list, I am looking for information of the family of Benajah Case. He was born in CT about 1830, married Lydia Woodruff, sometime in late 1780's or 1790's they moved their family to Westford, Chittenden, VT. I am looking for information on their children. I would particularly like to connect a Luther Case as their son. I have a Luther Case.... he moved on to Ohio around 1810-1820, he was a widower when he married Chloe Sisson in Gallia County, Ohio in 1823. He died and is buried in Gallipolis, OH. His grave indicates that he was from Connecitcut, and was 39 when he died in 1829. I am trying to connect him to Benajah and Lydia because I have received a transcription of a letter that he supposedly wrote to his sister, who was married to Francis Northway. Also there is mention of an Edith which could have been another sister. He also mentions a Rachel who he had scarely heard from since he left Vermont. I have found leads that indicate Lucy Case Northway was the daughter of Benajah and Lydia Case, and there was another sister Esther. Any help with this family would be greatly appreciated. Sue Edwards gggg granddaughter of Luther Case and Chloe Sisson --

    3. I've been reading the brick wall posts, hoping maybe I could find some kind of connection, but alas, nothing at all. We are searching for the parents of Stephen Tuttle, born in Burlington in 1814. This is all we have from the census records. Any ideas where to go next? This is all so new to us, we don't really know how to search. Thank you, Kris Tuttle

    3. Surnames: WEBSTER, WELLS, TUCKER, FARWELL, SNOW Looking for WEBSTER families in Chittenden county, Vermont, mid 1800's, particularly descendants of Henry WEBSTER born 1784 in Hill (formerly New Chester), Merrimack county, New Hampshire. Henry was the son of Ephraim WEBSTER and Sarah COLBY WELLS, of the Ipswich, Essex co., Massachusetts WEBSTER (Daniel) line. Henry was one of 4 children of Ephraim and Sarah. (Ephraim WEBSTER had first married Phebe TUCKER and they had 10 children.) Henry WEBSTER was married in 1807 in Essex Co., MA to Rebecca FARWELL. Henry and Rebecca WEBSTER moved first to NH then on to Bolton, Chittenden co., VT in 1822. They were the parents of five sons and 4 daughters, names not known. I suspect one daughter might be Sarah Esther WEBSTER, my gr-gr-grandmother who married Harvey SNOW. Harvey and Sarah SNOW are documented living in Bolton on the 1850 census, with their daughter Laura and a Henry B. WEBSTER "blind" age 31 (?). Henry WEBSTER (not the blind one) wrote a marvelous narrative in 1847 about his family, his parents, half-siblings, siblings and children. Missing are the names of his children! The narrative is posted at: http://fraser.cc/Webster/sources/HenrysDocument.html The main page for this very good site gives stories and descendants of Asa WEBSTER of Brockville, Ontario, Henry's half-brother.
