    3. I have been looking for the marriage record of John Timothy Kelley of Rutland and Margaret Ellen Lynch of Burlington for about 6 years. I have tried the Vermont Archives in Middlesex, Visited the Court House In Burlington 3 times, and just heard from the Cathedral in Burlington that do not have a record of the marriage but have the Baptism records of their 3 sons john Edward born March 29, 1900, Francis born February 10, 1902 and of Walter born October 19,1904. Would it have been easier for them to get married in an adjoining state than in Vermont? Margaret would have been about 20 yers old in 1898 and John about 25. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide for this family. John McGreal Beaver, PA

    3. I am looking for information on my g-grandmother Anna S. Dow Rollins. She was born June 25, 1863 in Hinesburg, Chittenden Co., Vt. Married to John R. Rollins on November 19, 1884. In particular, I am looking for her death and cemetery information. Any other information about her would be great. I believe that she died sometime after Sept 29, 1885 and 1890. Her parents were Isaiah Dow and Sarah Newland Dow. It is possible that they moved to Burlington, Vt prior to her death. Thanks in advance. 3. Hi Everyone - There is an American-Canadian Gen. Soc. Library, PO Box 668, Manchester, NH. 03105. Visited there in 1995. Outstanding collection of Church records from Quebec, and probably other E. Canadian Provinces. Only had 2 hours to closing and had to leave without exploring all of its holdings. In Burlington, the University of Vermont Library was full of historical data... well worth a visit. In Shelburne, VT, we found many records of Dee's Pierson, Van Ornum, (Van Arnhem) and Russell families, in the Pierson Public Library. The families had moved from NJ before 1775, and were directly involved in the Revolution. The entire history is there... worth a visit. In the Shelburne Town Hall we found genealogical records on file as well as the official Town records. In the Charlotte Town Hall, we found more land records with more family info. Almost all Towns have published town histories which contain much genealogical info about early settlers. Look in "The Handy Book for Genealogists" publ. by Everton Publishers, PO Box 368, Logan, Utah, 84321, for addresses of Gen Societies and County Court Houses, as well as valuable printed sources. Phone numbers (802) of County Clerks are also listed. The Handy Book is found in all Gen. Libraries. Good hunting... Dee & Tom Doyle, Fresno, CA

Here is a section of text from my db that may be useful to you and possibly to others on this list. "He was in Scituate, RI,(later, Foster) at the time of the 1774 census, which indicates a family of 6 sons and two daughters. He would have been 42 at that time. He was also enumerated in Scituate, RI, in the 1777 Military Census of Rhode Island. On Oct. 2, 1779, Thomas and his wife, Bathsheba, sold 39 acres in Foster to his brother Benajah. On the 4th, they sold another 37 acres to his brother, Enoch, Jr., and on the 5th, 14 acres to his brother Rufus. They sold 80 acres on Cucumber Hill to Jedediah Pratt in 1779, as well. They settled in Bennington, VT, where daughter Nancy was married, and later in Clarendon, VT, where his daughter, Sarah was married in 1784, moving on to Hinesburg in 1785. Thomas was one of the original settlers of that town; Erastus Bostwick, in his"1861 History & Tales of Hinesburgh, Vermont," notes "1785 - Thomas Place from Road Iland and family to his Heirs." Job Place, eldest son of Thomas' brother, Benajah, later joined Thomas, who sold land to him in 1791. On 22 October 1791, Thomas sold land to Job Place "of Foster, RI." The deed was witnessed by "Benager" Place and "Sollomon" Place. Benajah Place, of Foster, was Thomas' brother and Job's father. On 24 May 1797, Thomas Place of St. George, VT, deeded property to Job Place of Hinesburg; George & "Agustus" Place were witnesses. It appears that Thomas never moved--that the St. George-Hinesburg town line was drawn through his property and he ended up on the St. George side of the line. I mention Job because he named one of his sons Lyman. You wrote: I recently discovered a Lyman Westcott in Highgate, Franklin County, in the US Census of 1810, the only Westcott listed in the county, and he is shown having two young children, which would match my John P. and another child. This Lyman does not seem to match up with any of the Lyman's listed in the extensive Stukely Westcott line. In closing, I'd like to mention a "teaser" in the Place family history. Enoch(2) Place, who died in 1703, probably in No. Kingstown, RI, left, in his will, "a cow to Cousin Mercy Westcott." If you or anyone else can establish the relationship, I'd be sincerely appreciative. John Folsom Orlando, FL
