Perhaps some form of a compromise can be reached here. Could the person(s) posting post only to the state list i.e. VERMONT or New Hampshire and send a short note to the other lists, such as "Information about Weathersford is posted on VERMONT-L?" That way those who want to look at them could, while the rest of us could get on with pursuing those elusive rascals, our ancestors, WITHIN Caledonia Co. I must admit that I haven't found the postings very profitable since there have been what seem to me to be stern warnings that the author will not do look ups or provide more info than that which is posted, which is often too incomplete in info to be useful. It can be expensive in terms of on-line time and printing. Also, we Vermont descendants seem to come from big families, often with fairly common last names, and sometimes when I recognize a last name, it is either not mine at all or so far removed collaterally as to not be useful.
