Hello. If you know where he was inducted into the service or sometimes where he last lived as a veteran of WW1 through Vietnam the local Veterans office will have a copy of his DD214 file. Also they will usually in his file show when he entered the service, mothers & fathers name, marriage date & if there was an allotment. Than sometimes the latest portion of his medical. Tell them mostly if someone can go to the office that you would like to acquire a Xerox copy of the DD214. If you run into a problem you can usually contact your local VFW & they can guide you.
