Dear Art, I have Gray ancestors from Sheffield, and found that the LDS library has filmed the vital record books from Sheffield, and I found my people in those records. I viewed the film at my local FHC. My people were in Sheffield until 1860s, so they were there a little earlier than yours. I don't recall how late the records went to. The idea of town reports is good. Someone also suggested to me the book on Sheffield that they suggested to you, but I was told that there wasn't a lot of genealogical information in it.
