Fellow Listers, I 'believe' I may be a descendent of Hannah MAXFIELD and Simon BRIER. I 'believe', but have no proof, that they had a daughter Hannah BRIER. This Hannah married Andrew BEAN, 1810 - 1816 in Sandwich, NH. I was given Hannah's surname by my great-aunt before she passed away in her note it stated that "Grandmother BALL's (Hannah BEAN) mother's name was Hannah BRIER?BRIAR, born in Tuftonboro, NH. She (Hannah BRIER) had 3 brothers and a sister." While reading the Vermont Historical Magazine for Sutton, VT I came upon the names of David BEAN, Elder Eliphalet MAXFIELD, and Simon BRIER. So, I did further research and found them all located in close proximity on the 1790 Census for Sandwich, NH. David BEAN and Andrew BEAN were first cousins. Another note of interest is that in the John BEAN of Exeter book it states that 2 of Andrew's father's sisters married BUYERs, which I now believe to be BRIERs. Andrew's parents were Andrew & Betsey (SINCLAIR) BEAN. I believe the other BRIER/BRIAR marriages were: Betsey BEAN and David BRIER/BRYER and Hannah BEAN and Peter BRIER/BRIAR. Andrew and Hannah (BRIER) BEAN moved from Sandwich to Charleston, Orleans, VT in March 1831 (this date according to Bernie BEAN, but Andrew appears in the 1830 census, perhaps it was 1821). Andrew died in 1836 - 1839 and she married William HUTCHINSON who was also in Sutton, VT when David BEAN and Eliphalet MAXFIELD were there. William was 15y her senior and Hannah still had 2 daughters at home. Oh, Andrew and Hannah had a son named SIMON, this is the first generation where this name appears as a family member for this direct line. So, has anyone come across any information in your research that may help me determine if Hannah MAXFIELD and Simon BRIER are ancestors of mine? Thanks for any assistance you can give me, Cherryl Ball
