Cheryl, I don't have any info at all on any BALL line but did scan through your letter for other surnames it might have included. Still didn't find anything there, but did notice one person born in 1865 and lived in Wheelock VT. and had this thought: isn't it interesting that, although we don't know each other etc,, that since my DH's ggrandmother was also born in Wheelock in circa 1860, their families knew each other? I have never been to Wheelock - yet anyway - but am sure it isn't a very large place. And even smaller back then! I know you were looking to see if those BALLs might tie into your line but just thought it an interesting thought... I'm hoping to obtain a birth record of < Thankful Mary Bailey, b. Aug. 20, 1817 in Peacham to James & Mary Bailey > The only data I have that connects Thankful Mary to James & Mary comes from "The Bailey Book" page 64, entry #375. I would like better documentation that a notation in a book. Thankful Mary married in 1847 in OH, and died in 1869 in OH. Her marriage, census, & death records only point to VT as place of birth. Is is possible to write, send a check, and receive a record from the year 1817? Pointers & suggests anxiously awaited :) TIA Diane Decker-Warneke mailto:[email protected]
Cheryl & Linda, I too have a Charles Palmer - hope you don't mind me listing him as well: Charles Augustus PALMER b. April 05, 1886 @ Lester, New York d. 1950 @ Mt. Morris, New York. Charles married Josephine Whaley on Bet. 1900 ? 1920 @ Geneseo, New York. They had one child Mary PALMER b. 1925. From my research I currently believe Charles was the son of Fredrick PALMER b. Bet. 1850 ? 1860 and his spouse was Harriet (?) who was b. Bet. 1850 ? 1860. Fredrick's father was Augustus Palmer and spouse: Anne S. Lathrop. I would like to share my research in the PALMER (s) with other interested relatives. Please advise if this is of interest to you. Rosalie and list, I have a Mary GREEN who married James PACKER on July 31, 1783 (not proven), They lived in Windham County and as I know nothing about Mary GREEN other than she might have been born on OCt 19, 1763 (have not laid eyes on the prove yet) do you happen to know anything about her or does anyone else on this list. BTW they are the parents of a Green Packer b. June 18, 1802 in Guilford, Windham, Vermont (I have copy of the birth register) his wife was Anna BULL and they married (I think) in Caledonia County, Vermont in 1829. My records indicate he died in New York State but I wondered if this could be the Green Packer who the cemetery is named after. If anyone knows I would be interested in hearing about it or I have some additional information (not much it is a collateral line) if anyone is interested. Mr. Clark, I purchased The Book of Lockes by John Goodwin Locke. It contains the descendants of William Locke, of Woburn, MA ( sorry I had said Danvers in the email) with an appendix on John Locke, of Hampton, NH. The book also has a section on the Lockes in England. I purchased the book from the New England Historic-Genealogical Society. Someone is selling a copy of it on ebay. You might get it for a great price. Otherwise check out my information on my website! http://www.gulftel.com/~rosalie/gen.htm Rosalie ----- Original Message ----- From: Harman Clark <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, October 03, 1999 2:01 PM Subject: Re: [VTCALEDO] Roll Call: > Rosalie -- am interested in information on the Locke family from Danvers, > MA. Hi, I'm new to the list. I'm searching for information on: Seymour BURR m. Hannah listed in Caledonia, Barnette twnship. 1840 and 1850 census Their daughter, RACHAEL BURR married Jason HANKS listed in the 1850 Caledonia, Barnette twnship. census. I believe Jason and Rachael BURR HANKS had a son named: SEYMOUR HANKS who married Lydia FARMER. Both Seymour and Lydia were born in Vermont, and had a daughter, ANTHA L. HANKS born there in 1849. Their next child was born in 1850 in WI. However, I need to confirm this belief with facts. I have a lot of information on their descendants, and am more than willing to share. Also researching: Morse, Hoselton, Hosington, Shaw, Carpenter, Burrell, Collins. Have a lot of information on Heywood and Blachford and am more than willing to share information. Thank you, Ronette from South Dakota

Thought perhaps I would throw some of my family names out to ya all! I have also listed from where they came before Caledonia County. Sherburne (Portsmouth, NH), Mitchem ( England), Hudson, Porter, Locke (Danvers, MA ), Green, Hill, Dunn ( Ireland), Howard, Melvin, Lovell, Hancock and Coolbeth. Rosalie
I'm not sure what the VOCA book is, but I have some ancestors buried in a Waterford cemetery you did not mention. The Stiles Cemetery located in Waterford, Caledonia, VT, eternally include Moses Huntley (d. 1 Mar 1846) and wife Hannah Miner Huntley (d. 27 May 1841). And since I'm on it and we're doing roll call, did I mention we're researching HUNTLEY & MINER of Caledonia and Orleans Counties? Also, HARTWELL, COLE and HILL. Some extended family names of these are CURTIS, PIPER, NILES, and GAGE. Do you mean "History of Caledonia County"? or are you referring to the "Gazetteer"? Does anyone own or have access to Hemenway's History of Vermont Vol 1? (Book printed in 1868) If so, would you please look at pages 356/357 and tell me what it says? I am especially interested in any information that it contains pertaining to James BALL and Abigail STARR or their children. Special interest in their son James Bradley BALL and his wife Rhoda PALMER (daughter of Charles PALMER from CT) and their children. Thanks so much for any assistance you can give me in this matter.
