Hi Harmon, Silas was born we believe in Burke, VT. He shows up in the 1860 census in Lake County Ohio. He married Emily Phelps in Ohio in 1856. Lyman also shows up in Ohio Census living with Jane & Charles Foster. ( we believe Jane to be Lymans daughter) There were alot of Thurbers migrating to the area at that time but researchers keep putting him with Lyman, so I am trying to make a concrete connection. You might try Tuttle Books in Rutland, VT. I know they are on the Internet but don't have their URL handy. Re: the Barnet Indexes -- it appears there may be some typos in some of the names. Were they verified against the cards prior to publishing? Also, the format is not consistent - will be difficult to import into Excel or QuattroPro. Hi Kate There were quite a few Baileys in Hardwick, Caledonia County, Vermont in 1887--25 years after Ellen's marriage--but I will bet one family is her parents: Deacon Charles M. Bailey lived in East Hardwick on road 37. He was town auditor. Clarence S. Bailey was a farmer in East Hardwick who farmed with his Father, Socrates. George M. Bailey worked in a sawmill and lived on road 57 Harvey Bailey was a farmer on road 7 William S.
