Need information about Sarrah FARNSWORTH married William TOBIN born 1853 Ireland Would like to know her parents name where she was born and when. We have been trying for 20years, every vital records, every town clerks office, et, et, there is no record of her birth or marriage, that we have found. Have even written to other people named Farnsworth and nothing. They only thing we know about her is after she married and on Wm's military papers it states that she was from St. Johnsbury. Does anyone know what papers may have written a marriage announcement there in St. Johnsbury, about 1865-67 right after the civil war? She has really been a brick wall. Hope you all can help, Thank you, Charlene Tobin Rodriguez [email protected]

I am looking for information regarding a branch of the Nova Scotia Bentleys who removed to the Danville area. Brian Manson Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
It would appear that the best route to Packer Mountain Cemetery in Newark would be to follow US Route 5 north from Lyndonville to West Burke. Follow US Route 5A north from West Burke and look for a paved road to the right about one-half mile north of the junction of 5 and 5A. It should be marked Newark but can't guarantee there will be a sign. Follow this road for maybe three miles into the village of Newark and take a right turn. Packer Mountain Cemetery should be about a mile along this road and on the righthand side of the road. I haven't visited it yet in my travels. Good luck. Robert H. Goss Jericho, VT
Can anyone give me driving directions to the Packer Mountain Cemetery in Newark? I am planning a trip to Weir's Beach, NH in May and would like to viisit this cemetery while I am in that neck of the woods. I only need them from within the town. I will probably come into the town from 114 or from 5A. The map I am looking at is not very detailed so I am not sure of the exact name of the road(s) into the town. Any help getting me there would be appreciated. thanks, Cherryl
Seeking any information whatsoever regarding ELMER GEORGE JONES, born Hardwick, VT in December 1900 to HATTIE CROSS and, we believe, NAPOLEON GOODHEART, later adopted by a Mr. Jones who married Hattie Cross. Brother was Alvah Jones. Sister Emma Jones. I am granddaughter. Linda L. Crowe
I've noticed the postings on the list about a Harvey family in VT and I am hopeful that someone will recognize a mystery person in my genealogy: Samuel Gilman [July 8, 1784, Gilmanton, NH - September 7, 1864 Antwerp TWP, Van Buren Co, MI] and his wife Judith Morrill June 10, 1790 Danville, VT - January 24, 1848, Antwerp TWP, Van Buren Co, MI] named their 2nd child and first son David Harvey Gilman. David was b in Wheelock September 8, 1813. Samuel and Judith's first child is named for Judith's mother Sarah Hoyt. There is no known Harvey in Judith's pedigree but the naming pattern this family followed suggests that David was named for an ancestor, possibly in his father's pedigree. Samuel's father is believed to be Edward Gilman, son of Antipas Gilman and Lydia Thing of Exeter and Gilmanton, NH. However, I have no information on Edward's wife and Samuel's mother. Does anyone recognize the name David Harvey? Or the names of any of the others? Thanks for any assistance

Hello Cheron, Judging by naming patterns noted while sorting through Harveys in all VT Vital Records in all counties the name Jennet(e) indicates this person is a member of the Alexander Harvey clan who came to Barnet in the latter part of 1774 from Scotland. Alexander's wife was Janette Brock and they had a daughter named Janette b. 1783 (one of abt 17 ch. !). I also found a grand-daughter of Alexander's named Janette b. 1817. If you are interested in finding her ancestry I would look at Alexander Harvey's descendancy first. Thanks for your input and good luck in your searching. Well, good morning, Mariana, This is indeed a nice way to begin the day! Martha H Harvey appears to be a neice of Anna Maria Harvey. Anna Maria Harvey is purportedly the sister of my 2nd gr-grandfather, Ferdinand. They are said to be ch. of Joel and Betsy (BOWEN)) Harvey. I have been trying for the past 4 years to unsnarl the step-relationship of the children listed in the AF and IGI for Joel and Betsy (2nd wife) since Joel's first wife, Susanna FARR, appears to have been the mother of at least 3 ch. before she died in 1807. I have also been actively trying to sort out the maternal ancestry of Betsy BOWEN. Progress has been slow to say the least! The AF and IGI give a birth date of Abt. 1821 for Anna Maria. Ferdinand's gravestone gives a dob of 9 Mar 1821. AF/IGI indicate that Ferdinand d. in 1852. He is found in the 1850, 1860 and 1870 Caledonia Co. census records and is later found in California records until his death in Dec. 1890. There does not seem to be a Vermont VR verified dob for any of Joel's 9 ch. Have you found any? The VT family members appear to have moved from Chesterfield, Chesire Co., NH about 1801 or shortly after. Father Isaiah, and his sons, Isaiah, Joel, and John are known to be active in the Caledonia Co. area before 1810 and these folks appear to have been joined at a later date by some of their "elders". I have purchased the Vermont Vital Records for Harvey from 1760 - 1870 and for 1871 - 1908 and have not yet found good dob for any of the children - still looking though. The Scottish family of Alexander Harvey are very noticable in this database and tend to make the Harvey sorting a slow and tedious chore. There was at least one other major branch of Harveys present during the same time frame which originated from NH (Keene) having come initially from the same Taunton MA area as did "our" branch. Incidentally, our branch stems from William Harvey b. 1614 ENG, one of the first proprietors of Taunton in case you were not aware. . I have the same marriage date of Anna Maria and Orange W May. I did not have his dob or parents. You can probably tell by my verboseness that I am glad to have made the contact with your husbnds line! Could you give me what you know about Anna Maria beyond what I have shown above? I would be pleased to share whatever you would like on the "rest of the story". I am using FTM vs. 7.0 and can provide the data pretty much in whatever format you would prefer.
