    1. [VTCALEDO] From the List Admin: OOPS on server upgrade TIME
    2. Darrell A. Martin
    3. Dear subscribers: Oooooops! I wrote "until Saturday, December 9, at NOON PACIFIC TIME (3:00 p.m. Eastern Standard time, about 21:00 GMT, I guesstimate), DON'T SEND ANY "UNPOSTED MESSAGES" QUESTIONS TO ME EITHER <grin>. Actually, this change begins at 7:00 a.m. PST today, Friday, December 8 (10:00 a.m. EST, 15:00 GMT). So the message delays will begin very soon, but should be over well before midnight Friday, rather than by noon Saturday. The rest of the previous message still applies. 1. [VTCALEDO] From list admin: RootsWeb server upgrade
    2. Darrell A. Martin
    3. Dear subscribers: Some of you will get this message multiple times, because you are subscribed to more than one list that I admin. Sorry! This evening, Friday, December 8, RootsWeb will be upgrading one of its mailing list servers. I know that more than one of "my" lists is affected. When the upgrade is finished, those of us who are on a list on the upgraded server should not notice any significant change in the behavior of the list, except possibly that it will be faster in its responses. During the upgrade, messages sent to an affected list will NOT be lost, but will be delayed in posting by up to 10 hours. Subscribing and unsubscribing will also be delayed. Please be aware of this behavior, both on this list and on other lists that may be affected. When this sort of thing happens, there is often a flurry of messages from panicky subscribers who don't understand what's happening, either because the list admin didn't inform them, or they didn't read the message, or they didn't understand how it might affect them. So: PLEASE do not send any messages TO THE LIST asking about problems with messages not being posted. Send all of those to me, personally, at either [email protected] or [email protected] (substitute the name of the list for LISTNAME, no -L or -D) But until Saturday, December 9, at NOON PACIFIC TIME (3:00 p.m. Eastern Standard time, about 21:00 GMT, I guesstimate), DON'T SEND ANY "UNPOSTED MESSAGES" QUESTIONS TO ME EITHER <grin>. After then, before sending that question to me, please check your mail one more time to see if it may have cleared itself up. This change should *not* garble any messages, so if you get a mishmashed message from the list, please tell me about it immediately. Instead of sitting at the keyboard anxiously awaiting the arrival of the new list server, why not -- if you can -- get out and look at some Christmas lights somewhere? Or take your spouse out to dinner? Or play that old favorite board game with the kids, you know, the one you *think* they have outgrown? Just a thought. If you are going through list withdrawal, I can help. Send me a private message to the first address I gave above, and I'll see if I can help soothe your jangled nerves <grin>. 1. [VTCALEDO] Guillemard, Lyndonville
    2. Hugh Casement
    3. Greetings from a new member in the Old World. Am I right that Lyndonville is in Caledonia County? I'm trying to find out whether Esther Theodora GUILLEMARD d. there in the 1940s. She was the widow of Arthur Franklin ('Frank') Guillemard, who had been a civil engineer in South America. Esther's father was British chaplain in Valparaiso, which is how they met. She was b. in England in 1870. It's not impossible that Frank d. in Vermont circa 1937. Incidentally, he was named after Sir John Franklin, husband of his 2nd cousin, lost on an Arctic expedition a year or two before his birth. None of which explains what they were doing in Vermont: perhaps they just liked the scenery. If anyone has any bright ideas on how to find out more, please let me know. Hugh Casement

    1. [VTCALEDO] About the election - from the listowner
    2. Hi, everybody: I have strong feelings about the election in Vermont. So do you, quite possibly. If you are an American citizen, I hope that you have voted, or will. That being said, nothing more needs to appear on this list about the election. The following items of special interest to Vermont genealogy are the *ONLY* exceptions: 1. races involving former members of the administrations of Calvin Coolidge or Chester A. Arthur; or, 2. victorious candidates who have as part of their election platform a pledge to return Vermont to independence; or, 3. referenda making genealogical research either illegal, or a required subject in the schools, of any part of Vermont; or, 4. elections returns involving Vermont Whigs or Federalists. Darrell also manages several other lists that I'm on and you should not see any changes in its opporation as he maintains a similiar low profile as long as everyone keeps on subject <G>. I plan to be around and continue to receive the digest version of the list. I'm planning on catching up on 3 to 4 years of email, to work on research and several transcription projects. **************************************************** James A. 3. Brenda, I usually try to avoid "confusing" the issue of a query with another query but I have run into a single Drown, Enoch of Peacham? who married a widowed Sarah (Judkins) Harvey in 1892 or 93 in Danville, Caledonia Co., VT. This would probably not have been Enoch Drowns first marriage either. Sarah was b. in July 1826 and she d. in 1898 so I assume they were BOTH well along in years when they married. Hopefully there would be some connection with the family of one of the youngsters you listed below..
