Hello listers, Sure hope someone out there can help me, I have a solid brickwall that I cannot get through after 20 years. Seeking information about my great grandmothers background, we have everything about her after she married but nothing before. Please do not tell me vital records, and the usual sort of thing. We have tried them all and written to Farnsworths and are on mail list, but it is like she is a shadow. Name: Sarah Farnsworth TOBIN born abt 1850's we thought in Vermont, she was living in St. Johnsbury. married abt 1865 William Henry TOBIN born 1843 in Ballycorney , Co. Clare Ireland came to America in 1855 with his family, he fought in the civil war and on his return, he married and they had 5 children, lived in Richmond, Bolton,VT and then abt 1879 they went to Greenwood NE They had another son in 1880. Sarah died 1883, no record of her death, at that time there were none kept. Please help me find her parents and such. Charlene TOBIN Rodriguez [email protected]
You have to remember that Wheelock had no hospital, so you will find that a lot of women went to other towns to give birth. My mother had her first born my brother in Lyndonville at a mid-wife's home ( 1937). ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rob" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, March 31, 2001 12:05 PM Subject: [VTCAL] Jamon Aldrich > I am looking for the birth information on Jamon Aldrich he was born abt 1807 > in either Caledonia Co. I am looking for the birth information on Jamon Aldrich he was born abt 1807 in either Caledonia Co. Vt. or Grafton Co. N.H. accross the river. He married Almira CHAMBERLIN abt. 1830. She was born 15 Jan 1809 In Kirby, Caledonia, Vermont I would also like confirmation that the genealogies are correct on her place of birth as her father Stephen CHAMBERLAIN was in Wheelock and so that town would seem a more logical place of birth. Greetings, list subscribers: There are reports circulating that AOL subscribers who have upgraded to the latest release are having trouble sending messages to RootsWeb. The cause of the problem is that AOL "likes" to send e-mail in HTML format and RootsWeb will not accept formatted mail. This a protection against malicious programs (not exactly viruses but they have the same effect) that can be activated by viewing HTML e-mail. RootsWeb will accept only plain text (also known as ASCII text) messages. If one of you attempts to send a message to the list with HTML formatting, it will "bounce" to me as the list admin. I will then work with you off list to get the problem solved. Usually this means changing a setting in your e-mail client, but there are other ways to do it. Obviously there will be no ranting and raving (well, at least not on my part <grin>); this is just a potential technical glitch. So, dug up any dead ancestors lately? Hit any brick walls we can help each other with?? Hi, everybody: There is a message making the rounds that is supposedly from a RootsWeb list owner, about the GenForum people supposedly selling information which users place on their site. Three points: 1. GenForum is not affiliated with RootsWeb, GenConnect, World Connect, or any other Ancestry.com or RootsWeb service, in any way. Any information you have posted on a RootsWeb site is *guaranteed* not to be sold, ever. 2. The message contains a request that it be forwarded to any mailing list of which the recipient might be a member. This is a dead giveaway that the message is a member of the obnoxious species "hoax chain letter", which is almost worse than viruses. Do not post any such message on any list of which I am the admin, please. I would have to become very annoyed. 3. Paul Burchfield, of GenForum technical support, stated flatly on 26 Mar 01 on the GenForum messages board, in response to a question from a GenForum user, that "no information from GenForum has ever appeared anywhere else". I have had contact with Mr. Burchfield in the past, and do not know him to state information he has reason to think is false. And now, I return you to your regularly scheduled genealogy researches. Good evening. I am new to this list and wonder if there is anyone who could do a couple of lookups for me. First, in the 1949 City Directory (or the equivilant) for Hardwick, VT. I am looking for a zerox of all Boltons, in particular Pauline B. Bolton, who was working at the Hardwick Trust Company. Second, a marriage record for Pauline Ambrose to a Bolton which would have been sometime between 1933 and 1948. Pauline was a Blackman, married Alvin Ambrose and 2nd a Bolton. I am willing to pay for any expenses incurred on my behalf and thank you so very much. Bea Hudson Hampton, VA

Good morning list, Can anyone tell me a little about the Brides and Grooms cards that are on file at the ACGS? Are the originals still on file with the town clerks? One has been found for my gr-grandmother's marriage on May 1, 1872, but the name for my gr-grandfather is very had to read. I know what it is, but a researcher read it as "Powers" and it should be PINNEY. These two names don't have much in common. They were married in Burke by a Thos. Trevillian, minister according to our family bible. Thanks for any help. Judy, in NC

Hi! Just found out that my Jesse Leavenworth Reynolds.b 1796 --born in Vermont. Did alot of Internet hunting..Caledonia seems likely.Oral tradition has it that Jesse came from a long line of Jesse's.I think they may have been Jesse Leavenworth's....a family name that can be found in Danville and Peacham. MY Jesse named his first born son Enoch Reynolds.I see that there is an Enoch Reynolds in Barnet in 1800.He could have been my Jesse's father. How far is Barnet from Peacham and Danville? I THINK..(no verification ) that Enoch Reynolds of Barnet may have married a Miss Leavenworth (probable father Jesse Leavenworth)..and they had a son named Jesse Leavenworth Reynolds. Does anyone have these names in their families? cathy
Hi, everybody: This is just a quick note to let everyone know what's going on. Although the mailing lists on RootsWeb were for the most part restored to action shortly after the servers were moved, the archives for the lists are even now not fully functioning. The interactive search archives are working. The threaded search archives are not, and if you try to get to them you will get the "Check Back Soon" downtime web page. I'll stay in touch.
