Mabel Hewitt was a wonderful local genealogist who lived in Hoosick and Hoosick Falls (nearby Rensselaer County, New York) who died quite a while ago. Her husband Alman died before her, and they never had children. I can't say I ever heard much from her about her own family, but until her husband died, she lived in the home that my great-great grandparents owned on Bovie Hill in Hoosick. Her complete collection of genealogical works was donated to the Bennington Museum by a friend of mine who received it after Mabel's death.
