Source, The Bennington (Vt) Evening Banner-- Mon. Aug.30, 1943. BENNINGTON, Vt. A requiem mass was sung Monday morning, a week ago, at 700 o'clock in St. Joseph's church, Attleboro, Mass., for Sgt. Armand A. Patnaude, U. S. Army, who was reported by the War Department killed in action in the South Pacific area on July 22. Sgt. Patnaude was a resident of Bennington for 12 years as an electrician for the Nichols Electric company before being inducted into the army. Sgt. Patnaude was serving with a cavalry reconnaissance group of the 43rd Division, who have made such a commendable record in that war theatre. The Rev. Albert Masse, pastor of the church, was the celebrant of the mass and there was a large attendance of friends and relatives of the soldier, including a sister-in-law, Mrs. Herbert Patnaude of Bennington. Besides his brother, who is in the amy and stationed in Maryland, he leaves his mother, Mrs.Albina R. Patnaude of Attleboro, Mass. The army sent a delegation of men to the service as did the American Legion. Taps were sounded at the conclusion of the service.
