    2. Source, Rutland, Vt. Daily Herald--Sat. Mar.24, 1934. PAWLET, VT. CHARLES PHILLIPS LIVED IN PAWLET OVER NINETY YEARS. March 23-- Charles Phillips, news of whose death and funeral was printed in the Herald, was in his 91st year, having been born here January 15, 1844. According to the old family bible, his grandmother was Content (Simmons) Phillips and his grandfather was Elkanah Phillips. They came from Cape Cod, Mass., and settled on the farm now owned by Thomas Brooks and operated by his son, Maynard Brooks of Pawlet. Charles was one of five children born to Samuel and Mary Phillips and he was the last survivor of the family. When he was 25 years of age, his father purchased the farm of Milton Sykes where he has resided for man years. he moved there with his parents and soon after he married Adelaide Goodspeed. After a short married life, his wife died. In November, 1880 he was married to Ida E. Paddock of Dorset (Vt.), with whom he spent the major portion of his life. She died on June 17, 1929. The survivors are Mr. and Mrs. John Capen and also a niece, Mrs. Herbert Croff of Pawlet and a nephew, Charles Phillips of Dorset. Joan H. Bixby
