Thanks, Jan, for the description of the company and regiment in which a Thomas Harris served. Now if I could find out where the battles in which they participated were! Joann Nichols
Hi Joann, "On Nov. 6, 1812 the legislature authorized the raising of a volunteer corps of 68 companys {two brigades} for the service of the Federal Government...For most part the Vermonters who served in the Regular Army were in the 11th Infantry. The 11th was organized in 1812, and served for the duration of the war." Sorry, I do not know whether or not your Thomas HARRIS is the same Thomas HARRIS who fought in the War of 1812 nor where the soldier was assigned. Good luck researching ancestors, Jan Jordan jnichols@sover.net (Joann H. Nichols) <<I am researching a Flavilla Harris, who was a daughter of Thomas and Achsah (--?--) Harris. There is a Thomas Harris listed in the Roster for the War of 1812-1814. Joann jnichols@sover.net >>
I am researching a Flavilla Harris, who was a daughter of Thomas and Achsah (--?--) Harris. On 10 Feb. 1816, in Bennington Probate Court, Axsah[?] Harris was named guardian for Flavilla. I believe that Thomas must have died prior to that time. On 17 Aug. 1813, Axa Harris and child were warned out of Woodford, Bennington Co., VT. There is a Thomas Harris listed in the Roster for the War of 1812-1814 as serving in company of Capt. Charles Follett, 11th Regt. on Pay Roll for Jan. & Feb. 1812. Ref. R&L 1812, AGO Page 12. I do not know where this company and regiment might have served or if this could be the Thomas Harris I am seeking. If it is, perhaps he died in the war and that is why he does not appear to be living when Axa and child were warned out of Woodford. Does anyone recognize these people? Thanks for any help you can give me. Joann Nichols
Hello I am writing an article about Caleb Morgan, b. 1716 CT, died 1775 in Pownal, Bennington Co. VT. He and his wife, Lydia Rogers, had at least 9 children, 3 of whom lived and died in Pownal. Several others moved to Poultney, (Rutland Co.). A few of them kept moving further north in Vermont, some ending up in Franklin Co (Enosburg area) and one to Rochester. There is another group that originated in Pownal and moved two generations later to Cambridge VT. I'm looking for known descendants so I can include your family in my article. At this point I expect to do the surname plus one generation; in other words, I would like information about anyone who retains the surname Morgan through direct descent, plus the marriage information for any Morgan women with their children. One of my questions what became of the family of Caleb Jr. He was a Rev War vet who fought at the Battle of Bennington when he resided in Pownal. His pension records allow us to trace his course first to Poultney and finally to Rochester where he died. I have 4 known children for him, but the trail ends there. I'd like to know more about his family. The children of Caleb that I know the least about are Nathan Morgan and Jonathan Morgan. I believe both of them moved to Middletown or Poultney, and Nathan moved on to Jericho, Enosburg, and Sheldon, VT. However, I dont know his wife's name, and have only one known child for him. I know very little about Jonathan, because there are at least two cousins by this name, and I find them indistinguishable. They would have been born between 1750 and 1768. Any help or discussion would be appreciated. Carolyn Adams S Ryegate VT .,

I wondered if anyone could tell me if the grave of Samuel Millington of Shaftsbury who served in the Rev. War in 1777 has a marked grave. I have the date, December 01, 1823 as his DOD. I would be interested in applying to DAR to place a marker on his grave if it isn't already marked. Thanks, Linda Garrett
