Hello all, I am searching a John Brock family who were in the Peru area in 1800. John died 1829 in Dorset. If anyone has access to a Peru History from that time, could you please check to see if John and his family are listed? I would appreciate also hearing from anyone who is researching this family. Thanks very much, Beth Mulac

I would be interested in any intersection with your own line that might be discovered. My wife's is as follows: Mary Agnes Galipeau born 24-May-1868 in Hudson Falls NY married William Conant Robinson on 7-Sep-1892 in Bennington VT. At the time of her marriage she was living in Bennington and listed her parents as Anthony Galipeau and Lizzie Blow. The death record gives her father as Peter Galipeau born in Canada. I haven't attempted to resolve the Peter vs. Anthony conflict, possible he was "Peter Anthony" or vice versa. As I said, I've not researched it but could take time to correspond and dig into it a bit. If there is any intersection between your line and this one, I can provide good data on the Robinson side of the marriage.

My grandparents were Louis Pierre GALIPEAU ( GALIPO ) & Carrie Elizabeth BENT. Louis was born on August 6 1884 & died on Sept 10 1913 in Indiana. Other than his marrriage I have no other definite information about him. I am looking for information on his family - parents, brothers & sisters etc.. Carrie & Louis were married on Jan 7 1907 & there were 3 sons. She was also married to George STEWART. Carrie was born on Jan 9 1885 in Bennington & died on June 27 1972 in Burlington, Vermont. Her parents were Alonzo & Emily ( BRACEY) BENT & she was the youngest of 9 children. Alonzo & Emily BENT were married on Dec 25 1860.. Alonzo was son of George & Adeline ( KNAPP ) BENT. Emily's parents were Asahel & Caroline ( RICE ) BRACEY I know that the GALIPEAU'S used several different variations in the spelling of this surname so it makes it harder to find out Louis' ancestors. My father & his brothers were born in Bennington .. Thanks in advance for any information that you might have .. Thanks, Patrick, I'm not sure this is the same Thomas; he is very elusive! There is a Thomas Harris in the 1810 Arlington census with one male under 10, one male 26-45, one female between 10-16 and one female 26-45. I don't think this is the one who appears to have married about 1811, unless his wife and two children died and he married again to Achsah. There is also a Thomas who served in the War of 1812. Thomas Harris probably was married in Bennington, Bennington Co., VT in 1811 as he was appointed as a hayward at the 1812 town meeting. In 1813 Achsah Harris and child was warned out of Woodford, Bennington Co. In 1816 Achsah Harris was appointed guardian to Flavilla Harris, daughter of Thomas Harris, deceased, late of Bennington. Does anyone recognize this family? In the 1800 census I find a George Harris living in Bennington with two males under 10, one male between 10 and 16, and one male 45 and over, one female between 26 and 45. Thanks for any help you can give me.
Thomas Harris was listed as a resident of Dorset in Oct. 1790 on a petition over a Town line dispute. Also residing in 1780 at Bennington 1780; served in Capt. Wood's Company. There is also a Thomas Harris listed on a petition for a town to be around the Ft Edward area of NY, with no record of any legislative action being taken or where the petitioners were from in Vermont. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joann H. Mabel Hewitt was a wonderful local genealogist who lived in Hoosick and Hoosick Falls (nearby Rensselaer County, New York) who died quite a while ago. Her husband Alman died before her, and they never had children. I can't say I ever heard much from her about her own family, but until her husband died, she lived in the home that my great-great grandparents owned on Bovie Hill in Hoosick. Her complete collection of genealogical works was donated to the Bennington Museum by a friend of mine who received it after Mabel's death. You can contact the museum's genealogical library and the volunteers should be able to help you with what you need. Their website is http://www.benningtonmuseum.com/gene.html. Good luck. Wendy Baker
