P. Smith, ed., History of Addison County Vermont (Syracuse NY 1886) which can now be viewed on-line at: http://www.middlebury.edu/lis/lib/guides_and_tutorials/guides_to_collections/collection_guide-vermont/internet_resources/history_addison_county/ The first instance may be a different George Leonard as he is listed as one of the pastors of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Middlebury (see p. 354) but in the Shoreham history (p. 621) it is stated: "The first house at the Center was built of logs by George Leonard as early as 1786, and stood on the site of the house now occupied by Levi Wolcott." The site of Wolcott's house is labeled on Beer's Atlas of 1871 diagonally across from the common. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
