- Hi - the record books were kept in the town vault last time I was there in 1997. They are a little sketchy about the early years of Vergennes - obviously you have been there. They wouldn't let you into the vault? There is also transcripts for various Addison county ce3metaries that was done long ago. They are kept in the New York City library special collections. When I inquired, they said that they were too fragile to photocopy. When I complained, they finally sent me some specfic pages - I mean,., why keep books, if you don't share the information. However, they they state they have never heard of them and the Bixby Library didn't know what I was talking about either. I am trying to locate information on a Joseph Carpenter b. 1783-1784 and d. January 23, 1822 and is buried in the School Street Cemetery. I have the transcription of his headstone but was unable to gain access to the cemetery to obtain a picture or see it for my self as it is completely closed in and locked. I am trying to find out if there is any other record of his death and who might have been his wife. Children information also. I have hit a brick wall and am unsure where to look now. Are there really any available records for Vergennes or Addison County in regards to the early 1800's? Any suggestions would be most welcome! > Thanks. > > Important Note: > The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
