Nye, 86, died Saturday, Sept. 25, 1999, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington after a brief illness. He was born May 13, 1913, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the son of George and Jessie (Field) Nye. He was a member of Washington Lodge No. 3, F&AM, in Williston. He retired as a Mt. Philo park ranger, where he worked for 14 years. Also, he was an avid woodworker and he made and repaired furniture. He is survived by three children, R. Robert Nye and wife Ruth of Florida, Gail and husband Fred Aube of Jonesville and Foster W. Nye and wife Nanci of Charlotte; six grandchildren; several great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Neva (Miller) Nye, a son, Andrew F. Nye, and a daughter, Sandra McDonald. Funeral services were held on Wednesday at North Ferrisburgh United Methodist Church. Inter-ment was in North Ferrisburgh Cemetery.
