This is what I have for Barrows in Waltham: Descendants of Francis Barrow (Bareau) Generation No. 1 1. FRANCIS BARROW1 (BAREAU) was born 17 June 1812 in Canada, and died 17 August 1880. He married ESTHER RUSSEL Abt. 1836 in Canada, daughter of UNDEFINED RUSSELL and ORCELIA UNDEFINED. She was born 1823 in Canada. Notes for FRANCIS BARROW (BAREAU): Ancestry Other surname spellings: Bareault, Barros, Narault, Nareau, Breslieu François is most likely a descendant of Jean Bareau dit Breliau, the French pioneer of this surname, born about 1651 in Beceleuf, Lucon, Poitou, France, the son of Jean François Bareau and Marie Cellier. He married Marie Jeanne Cusson 9 November 1679 in Cap-de-la-Madeleine, Quebec, Canada. His life was cut short, however, when he was killed by the Iroquois at the age of 39 on September 4, 1690. His body was recovered and he was buried on December 3 of that same year at the church at Laprairie. Translation of the parish register entry for the burial of Jean Bourbon (Jean Bareau is called BAREAULT in this document): "This 3rd of December 1690, I, undersigned, missionary priest, certify having gone into the forest to find the remains (of the bones) of the late Bourbon, inhabitant of this parish and of someone else of whom it was impossible to say who he was, as he was so disfigured by the Iroquois. It is thought he is a soldier of Chevalier Degrais, called Lamotte, who were both killed on the 4th of September this year during the attack at the fork of the Prairie de la Magdeleine with Jean Duval, Jean BAREAULT, inhabitants of this parish, Latreille, Beaulieu, Larose, d¹Auvergne, soldiers of Chevalier Degrais. We have entombed the bones of Bourbon and Lamotte this 3d (of December) in the cemetery of this parish, as we did with the bodies of BAREAULT and Jean Duval on the 4th and 5th September." ( registers of Laprairie) Marie Cusson was born in 1663 in Cap-de-la-Madeleine, Quebec, Canada, the daughter of Jean Cusson born 1636 in Ste Marguerite-sur-Duclair, Rouen, France and Marie Foubert born 13 July, 1640 in St-Vivien, Rouen, France. after Jean's death, Marie married Joachim Jacques Leber on 28 January 1692 in LaPrairie, Quebec and then again after Joachim's death to Claude Guerin on 19 November 1696 in Montreal, Quebec. Marie died 20 March 1737 in Laprairie, Quebec. Jean and Marie had four children and only one son. They were Elisabeth born 9 August 1682 in Laprairie, Quebec; Louise born 13 November 1684 in Laprairie, Quebec; François Xavier born 22 June 1687 in Laprairie, Quebec and Marguerite born 11 October 1689 in Laprairie, Quebec. Thus, we descend from his only son, François Xavier. François Xavier married Marguerite Senecal on 18 Mar 1720 in La Nativité-de-la-Prairie-de-la-Madeleine, Laprairie, Québec, Canada. She was born in 1701-1702 in Contrecoeur, Verchères, Québec, Canada, the daughter of Pierre Senecal born 16 Aug 1673 in Montréal, Québec, Canada and Marguerite Pinsonneault, born abt 1680 in Contrecoeur, Verchères, Québec. Marie-Marguerite BAREAU b: 8 May 1740 in Laprairie, Québec, Canada Francis Barrow is probably a third or forth generation descendant of one of the six sons of Françoise and Marie. Notes on the parents of Marguerite Pinsonneault: Pinsonnault/Pinsonneau dit Lafleur, François-born about 1646 in the diocese of Saintes, Saintonge, though his parents' names are unknown. He arrived in Canada, September 12, 1665, aboard the Saint-Sebastien with the Saint-Ours Company of the Carignan Regiment. Some time in 1673, he married Fille du Roi Anne Leper. The couple had seven children. The family settled at Saint-Ours, but moved to Montréal in 1681, to Longueuil in 1696, then to Laprairie in 1710. On July 22, 1724, Anne and François gave all their possessions to their children, on the condition that they be taken care of them for the rest of their lives in return. François Pinsonnault dit Lafleur died about 8 P.M. January 26, 1731 and was bur-ied the next day at Laprairie. Anne Leper died at Laprairie on January 29, 1732 and was buried there the next day.
