Source, Rutland Daily Herald--Tue. July 28, 1953. MRS. EDWARD BILLINGS . VERGENNES, VT., July 27--Mrs. Stella Smith Billings, widow of Edward H. Billings, died today at a nursing home in Essex Junction. A resident of Vergennes for 32 years, she was born in Shoreham, Feb. 27, 1864, a twin daughter of Joseph and Polly (Hemenway) Smith. Mrs.Billings was the last of her immediate family. A brother, the Rev. Fred Smith, a Congregational minister in Chicago, died some years ago. Mr. Billings died Jan. 21, 1936. She leaves four daughters, Mrs. Edith Boyd and Mrs. Harry Stebbins of Burlington, Mrs. Earl Myers of Vergennes and Mrs. Arthur Swanson of Trenton, N. J., nine grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren. Services will be held at the Gaunya Funeral Home in Vergennes Wednesday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Earl Vincent, Congregational pastor here, will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Bristol. Transcribed by, Joan H. Bixby
