Source, Rutland Vt.Herald--Dec. 16, 1931. RUTLAND, Vt. SAMUEL LADUC DIES ALONE AT HIS HOME. Body of Gilrain Ave. Man Found on Kitchen Floor ; Apoplexy Is Cause. Samuel Laduc, 59, was found dead, lying in a pool of blood on the floor in the kitchen of his home, 29 Gilrain avenue, Rutland, Vt., about 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon by his nephew, Walter Gilman of Gilrain avenue and Leon Pincher of Allen street . Dr. C. E. Fagan pronounced death due to a cerebral hemorrhage and said he believed the man had died early Monday. Police Officers Warren E. Battles and Quincy M. Baker, who forced an entrance to Laduc's house through the front door, said they believed the man suffered an apoplectic stroke and in falling, struck his head on the kitchen range. Pincher, told police that he went to visit Laduc, who was keeping house for himself during the absence of his wife. Mrs. Laduc was in Ludlow, Vt. caring for their daughter, Mrs. Jesse Morey of Ludlow, who is ill. When he was unable to arouse anyone by knocking loudly on the various outside doors. Pincher said he went for Gilman. Together they peered into various windows about the house and finally, looking through the kitchen panes,were able to see Laduc's feet near the stove. POLICE FORCE DOOR. They called police headquarters. Police officers Baker and Battles pried the lock on the front door with a pinch bar. They found Laduc lying face downward. Dr. Fagan and Fred Beauchamp, a member of the city board of health were called and the body was removed to the Stearns funeral home on West street. Mrs.Laduc and other relatives were notified by police. Mrs. Laduc arrived home about 7:30 o'clock . Besides his wife and daughter, Laduc is survived by his mother, Mrs. Delia Laduc ; a sister, Mrs. George Hammond and four brothers, Louis, William, Philip and Charles Laduc, all of Orwell, Vt., also a grandchild.
