Gevry ADDISON Lawrence E. Gevry, 85, died Saturday at his home. He was born Nov. 28, 1914, in Actonvale, Quebec, Canada, son of Valmore and Angela (LaFontaine) Gevry. His family moved from Canada when he was 14 years old. He attended school in Addison and Vergennes. He was a longtime dairy farmer in Addison until his retirement in 1996. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Cecile (Leframboise) Gevry; a daughter, Joyce Tarte of Addison; five sons, Roger Gevry, David Gevry and Rheal Gevry, all of Addison, Leo Gevry of Bridport and Bernard Gevry of North Ferrisburgh; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; four brothers, Gerard, Louis, Paul and Robert Gevry; nine sisters, Colombe Cousineau, Bridget Cousino, Yvette Field, Alice Cousino, Aline Kirk, Claire Aube, Susan Gamache, Joanne Dusten and Cecile Young; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Roland. The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter Church in Vergennes. Burial will take place in St. Peter Cemetery.
