Source, Rutland Vt. Herald--Jan. 10, 1933. EDWARD NICHOLS BURIED. VERGENNES, Vt., Jan. 9--Edward Nichols, who died Wednesday, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George L. Palmer, where he had been staying for the past few months, was buried in Bridport,Vt. Friday. Funeral services were held at the Palmer home at 2 o'clock. Mr. Nichols was born October 16, 1857, in Peru, N. Y., and moved to Bridport, Vt. in1875. In his early he was a school teacher, and later was the founder ad owner of the Bridport, Vt. Cheese factory, which he operated until he sold it to his son. He was the first master of the Bridport Grange, and in 1916 represented the town of Bridport in the state Legislature. Mr. Nichols was married November 21, 1882, to Mary A. Bacon, only daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. W. N. Bacon. She died in November, 1921 and 10 years later he married Mrs. Deil Russell Weick of Boston, now deceased. Mr. Nichols is survived by two daughters, Mrs. O. H. Sherbino of Bethel, Vt. and Mrs. G. L.Palmer of Vergennes; one son, Dr. H. E. Nichols of Yonkers, N.Y., four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and two sisters, Mrs. Amy Harris and Mrs. J. G. Sunderland of Bridport.
