People know to have made the trip were Samuel DAY, b. Addison Co. Vt. daughter Mary Ann DAY, b. 1816, Addison Co. Vt. (1st wife was Maria SPENCER) two other children, names unknown, may have made trip. 2nd wife Emeritta/Emoretta HAYES/HAYS b. 8/14/1806 in Addison Co. Vt. son - Ira T. DAY, b. 9/4/1830, Addison Co. Vt. daughter - Charlotte DAY Harmon B. HAYS, b. 1807, Addison Co. Vt. Harvey D. HAYES, b. 1809, Addison Co. Vt. Harley Elam HAYES, b. 3/14/1813, Addison Co. Vt. Emeritta, Harmon, Harvey, and Harley are the children of Elam HAYES/HAYS and Rachel KNICKERBOCKER Have no information on Elam & Rachel as to whether they made the trip or were still alive at this date. Group settled in Greene County Illinois, then Jersey County, and some moved on to Macoupin County, Illinois. Samuel DAY is listed in the 1840 census of Green Co. IL also listed is a Cornelius DAY, would like to know if there is a connection. Would appreciate any information regarding anyone related to any of the above families. Elam HAYES/HAYS is listed as being born in VT and CT by his children on various census forms. Rachel KNICKERBOCKER is listed as being born in CT. Very little documentation on either. If anyone has other families that moved from Addison Co. VT during this time frame to Illinois, would like to compare notes since wagon trains during this time usually consisted of related families and neighbors.
