However, I didn't find Susanna in H. P. Smith, ed., History of Addison County Vermont (Syracuse NY 1886) which can now be viewed on-line at: http://www.middlebury.edu/lis/lib/guides_and_tutorials/guides_to_collections/collection_guide-vermont/internet_resources/history_addison_county/ John Stearns of Monkton is found on p. 514 where it mentions he arrived in 1774 along with Ebenezer Stearns (also pp.519, 520). They settled just south of the Hinesburg line but were broken up by the Revolution. Your John might be the John on p. 525 in New Haven. Then there is a John, son of Joseph Stearns mentioned in Middlebury on p. 248 probably around 1800. Exact date not given.
