    1. [VTADDISO] GOODRICH in Middlebury
    2. Kathy Mahmens
    3. I am trying to find the parents of Peter M GOODRICH. Peter was born 17 Aug 1795 in Middlebury. He married Sally CURTIS abt 1821 in Genesee Co, NY and died 14 Nov 1888 in Myron, Allamakee Co, IA. I have found 4 different GOODRICH families that moved into Middlebury 1790ish time frame. I have tracked these 4 families back to CT to the same family starting with William GOODRICH & his wife, Sarah MARVIN. The first is from Wethersfield, CT. Peter moved to Middlebury prior to 1790. Is listed in the 1790 census, as his son, Lemuel. Peter died bet 1790 & 1800 census. Lemuel was b 1761 Wethersfield, CT & died 1 May 1812 Middlebury & buried in Foote Street Cem. 1810 census Lemuel's household lists 3 males 0-10, 1 male 45 & older, 1 female 10-16 & 1 female over 45. I have not found if Peter had any other sons. Peter & Lemuel's line is: Lemuel>Peter>Richard>Ephraim>William. The second is Bethuel Goodrich that settled in Middlebury abt 1789, showing up in church records July 1789. Middlebury history states he moved there 1790. He died in 1829 age 53 (would have been b 1776.) He was in the War of 1812 & wounded in the foot. Bethuel was married to Silence Boardman. Peter that moved to Middleburry prior to 1790 & Bethuel's father, Richard, are brothers. Bethuel>Richard>Richard>Ephraim>William The third is Captain Stephen Goodrich from Glastenbury, CT that moved to Middlebury 1784 with his two sons, William & Amos. Stephen died 1823 age 93, William died 1812 age 57, & Amos died 1854 age 90. Amos & William both had sons - Peter Goodrich is listed as Amos' grandson, & William had sons living in Middlebury when the "History of Middlebury" was written. William & Amos>Stephen>William>Ephraim>William The fourth line is Ephraim Goodrich. Was born 6 Mar 1779 & d 1859 WI. Wife's name was Prudence FOX. Married 4 Oct 1814 CT. His parents are Jehiel Goodrich & Prudence MILLER. Jehiel is in the 1800 Middlebury census. & gone in 1810. Not sure if he died or is living with someone else as he would have been 70 in 1810. Jehiel brought his family to Middlebury between 1790 & 1800. Ephraim's line is: Ephraim>Jehiel>William>Ephraim>William. Peter M GOODRICH was in the War of 1812 & was wounded. After the war, he moved to NY where he married Sally CURTIS. 1825-1836 he is in Chautauqua Co, NY. 1836 he moved to Cook Co, IL & 1839 to Kane Co, IL. 1853 he moved to Allamakee Co, IA where he died. Peter & Sally had 7 kids, 4 of which I have found. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Kathy Mahmens <[email protected]> <http://www.rogersark.net/hawkeyes>
