NY Sarah probably surname of BARNS, b. c1759 although one record gives 1754, d. 26 Feb 1837 ae 78 and buried in Evergreen Cem. Lewis was in the Revolution at White Plains NY and at the time of enlistment, was a resident of Westchester Co. N.Y. He was m. at Horseneck N.Y. His pension papers have depositions from Joshua Barns and Patience Ferris of Ferrisburgh VT stating that they were brother and sister of Lewis' wife. Children (perhaps others, order uncertain): i. Richard, b. 1798 VT, d. 17 Feb 1873 ae 74 and buried in Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven VT, m. (1) Susan ENO, b. 1797, d. 13 Sep 1850 ae 53 and buried in Evergreen Cem., m. (2) Eveline, b. c1809 NH, d.___. Richard lived in New Haven Mills VT. He held a number of town offices.*18 He is on the 1860 census of New Haven, age 61, a farmer. Enumerated with him is Eveline age 51, his wife, and Henry (age 23, a son ?) also a farmer and a 13 year old servant, Olive Mitchell. This Henry probably is Henry B. Jacobs known to be in New Haven in 1864. By the 1870 census, Richard and Emiline, as the enumerator spelled her name, are in Bristol. He is a retired farmer with $900 real estate value and $500 personal estate. Eveline R. Jacobs, age 75, is a widow on the 1880 census of Bristol living with her sister, Susan D. Bush, age 79, the wife of Alva W. Bush, age 58, a farm laborer (dwelling #185, family 193). Children (perhaps there were others): 1 Lorraine, b.___ New Haven VT, d.___, m. Levi Martin ROCKWOOD, b.___ Bristol VT. A g-granddaughter supplied data on this family (Idalee Sanders, 120 Ballard Rd #37 Gansevoort, N.Y. 12831 518-584-2948. Idalee, dau. of Joel & Dorothy (Rockwood) RANDALL, b. W. Addison VT) 2 Alma, b. 1829, d. 1892, m. Theron M. STURDEVANT, b. 1826, d. 1896.*19 ii. Lewis, Jr., b.___.
