I am trying to find the source for birth and marriage information for Sarah M. Chase that I found in Ancestral File. Sarah or Sally Melissa Chase, born 14 Aug 1831 in Bristol, Addison, VT, daughter of Abner Chase (1784-1808) and Amy Scott (1788- ). Married 31 Jan 1831, in Bristol, Addison, VT, to Lucius Clark, born 14 Aug 1803 (birthplace of Manessa, St. Lawrence, NY is incorrect, he was probably born in Rutland Co., VT, but was possibly a resident of NY at the time of the marriage). According to census records, their first two children were born in Vermont, so their births may be recorded in Bristol: 1. Sylvester Clark, born abt 1831 2. Martha Ann Clark, born abt 1835 By 1841 the family was in NY; they followed the Mormons west and by 1842 were in Nauvoo, IL; in 1848 they moved to Des Moines, Van Buren Co., Iowa, where Lucius died in 1864.
