I visited this cemetery several years ago when I was early in my family history and did not realize that I was related to those buried there ( I wish I taken better notes ). So as she dies well after 1880 as Elijah is said to be widowed in 1880.. SEE your First and last post.. This Elijah J born in 6/1833 is not the one I need to look further on.. This Elijah J Sawyer is the one born into the Thomas Sawyer 1616 line.. Unfortuantly, this is not my Elijah.. Figures.. I have seen some more info on when Christina dies and this looks about right.. There son Warren looked promising but his birthdate is off a few years.. MY Elijah Sawyer lost his wife before 1880 as stated in the 1880 census, but after 1874/5 as that is when Warren was born.. Interesting that two Elijah Sawyers in the same state, 3 years apart in age have the same named son, just years apart too.. So the search continues.. The 1870 census would really help here, but I believe their isn't one.. Another figures..

    1. [VTADDISO] John McKenzie, b. ~1820 in VT
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: McKENZIE Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.vermont.counties.addison/2836/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am searching for the parents of my ancestor John McKenzie, possibly of Ferrisburgh, Addison, VT. He was born ~1820 in VT and died after 1880 in Iowa. He married a woman named Elizabeth, who was born ~1820 in OH and died after 1880 in IA. With her he had five children: Nancy (1841-1916), Lydia (1843-1918), Isaac (b. 1845 in OH), Martin (b. ~1850 in OH), & Mary (b. 1852 in OH). I suspect that John's parents are Isaac (Issac) & Nancy McKenzie. I found these individuals on a tree published on Ancestry.com. This tree stated that Isaac was born ~1784 in NH and that he died 17 March 1822 in Ferrisburgh, Addison, VT, and that Nancy was born in 1779. According to the tree, they had five children: William, Mary, John, and the twins Enoch & Enos. I can find this family on the census in 1810 and 1820, and after that they vanish. However, the tree also says that William and Mary both settled in Olmstead County, OH with their spouses. Olmstead County is only one county away from Lorain County, where I find my John living with Elizabeth and his children in 1850. Also, William's wife Lydia (whom he married in OH) was allegedly born in Elyria, which is the county seat of Lorain County. All this, and the fact that two of John's children are named Isaac and Nancy, seems to point to Isaac & Nancy being the parents of my John; however, I cannot confirm any of it. Does anyone have any information on this family? I would greatly appreciate any help anyone can offer. Thank you.

Sorry gang. Now the census and age reported at death agree ... she was age 14 at marriage in 1805. However, this still does not clear up her parentage. Given that her birth looks much more likely to be 1791 and some had her associated with Clement Sumner and Elizabeth Gilbert ( she born 1736), I think it more likely they've gotten the wrong Clement Sumner since his wife did not die until after Clement but she was far too old to have a daughter in 1791 (age 55). If my hunch is right, we'd need a prospect.

I know she gave birth to her first child 5 mos after she was married. I have her birth variously as 1777, 1783, 1791 & 1796/ The certified death certificate for her puts her death at Aug 18, 1843 age 52, that puts her born in 1790/91. . I am at sea over this. 1. [VTADDISO] GOODALE -- SUMNER
    2. Weybride VR place the marriage of Patience SUMNER and Jared GOODALE at 17 Mar 1805. According to a certified copy of her death, Patience died 18 Aug 1848 at age 52. That would make her born 1795-1796 and about age 9 or 10 at marriage, I realize death records are notorious for inaccuacy at age at time of death, etc. However, her 1st child was born only a few months after marriage ... so her young age could have been hidden. In 1850 census there is a woman named Milli Goodale (born ca 1791) in household with Jared Goodale. Either 1. she is an unknown sister or other relative of the newly widowed Jared Goodale (means there should be a record of this womans death 1850-1860) 2. she and Patience are the same woman (means the death cert has wrong date of death) Anyone have better ideas?
