Author: pjhelm Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.vermont.counties.addison/1744.2.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi, When I also discovered the probate records for many years no longer exist in Addison Co., a good friend who was a professional genealogist, suggested I try land records. For Vermont records, you will need the town your ancestor lived in to start. There are some good articles out there that helped me to get started and I used the local LDS branch that has hours set up for geneaolgy research. Ordered the microfilm and after quite a bit of work found alot of great information. It was worth the time. I found two of my ancestor's death dates and a listing of their children, including the daughters married names and their addresses when they divided up the land and/or sold the land. One early deed even gave the name of the county and state one of my ancestors came from in 1796. Good Luck Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Does your cousin's wife have a long family history in the Bridport area and any Sophronia LaRocques's in it from the early 1800s? Author: jblimkie1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.vermont.counties.addison/940.947/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi there, in 1995 I travelled from my home in Pembroke, Ont. to New York. In my search through the census books of 1875 in the town of Moriahm I found several Tario entries. It seems that Julia's husband was Peter (senior) and that he came from Canada. However there was also another Julia married to one Joseph Tario, a teamster and both he and his wife came from Canada. This data was found in the 1870 census book in the Government Center Building in Elizabethtown. Hope this helps in some way. 2. Calvin was born in the 1770s I believe and his children were born betwwen I think 1796 and 1820. He was supposed to have 6 children. One daughter died young. Three sons and a daughter moved west. We don't know who the 6th child was, but Lucinda was born too late to be a daughter. We don't believe that had anymore children in the area, because Calvin and his second wife were cared for by a wife's relative in their old age. Your Calvin may have moved West after 1860, it was a time that many went to Wisconsin and Michigan...
