Source, Rutland Daily Herald--Fri. May 22, 1914. Page 3. RUTLAND, VT. NEWS OF THE CITY : WHITNEY STROLLS INTO LOCAL STORE. Frank Whitney of West Salisbury, who disappeared Tuesday morning from his home, and for whom a posse had been searching, wandered into the F.B. Howard jewelry store here yesterday morning, evidently suffering from some mental disease. The proprietor, Frank B. Howard, knew him, communicated with his brother, E. J. Whitney of West Salisbury, and the latter came in an automobile yesterday afternoon and took his brother home. The man is said to be only temporarily demented, owing to overwork and family illness. Frank Whitney left home Tuesday morning, drove to Brandon and left his team in a barn there. He is a state road commissioner for his district, and a well-to-do farmer. He did not know how he reached this city, but it was discovered that he came by train. He did not know where he had stopped in Brandon, or what he had done since reaching Rutland. While talking to Mr. Howard he burst into tears. Physicians say he may readily recover, if he can be induced to stop worrying. Mr. Whitney is 44 years old. Transcribed by, Joan H. Bixby

" Re: Records for Rev. Joseph Sawyer in Vermont Author: John Burbank Date: 16 Mar 2006 GMT In Reply to: Records for Rev. Joseph Sawyer in Vermont by: Susie Sherman I doubt that you will find any ministerial records of Elder Sawyer. He was a Baptist minister as am I, and personal records aren't often preserved. The official record, of course, is recorded in the town where the wedding took place or from which a license was issued. He served the following churches in VT: South Fairfield 1814, East Hubbardton 1815-27, Whiting 1823-25, Shaftsbury 1839-44, Orwell 1854 and Brandon. Henry Crocker, History of the Baptists in Vermont (1913) doesn't list him as a Whiting pastor but does have I. W. Sawyer listed which may be a typo.
