Author: JNichols7769 Surnames: Sturtevant Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.vermont.counties.addison/3085.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The 1870 census has him in Weybridge, Addison County, VT; he is living with Daniel and Julia M. Sturtevant. Daniel is age 65, a retired farmer; Julia M. is age 50, keeping house. Then there is Martin W.[?], age 18, at home, Catharine, age 15, at home and Wilbur, age 5, at home, all born VT. While it doesn't say Daniel and Julia are the parents, I would guess that they are. Seems as if Wilbur is pretty young to have parents as old as Daniel and Julia, however. The town you mention as Middlesburg would be Middlebury. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I HAVE FOUND A 1880 CENSUS LISTING THAT COULD BE HIM AS A NEPHEW OF CHARLES STURTEVANT; BUT WHO WERE HIS PARENTS AND SIBLINGS? THIS MATCHES A SKETCHY FAMILY HISTORY OF HIS PARENTS PASSING WHICH LEFT A LARGE GROUP OF SIBLINGS TO BE CARED FOR BY RELATIVES. NO FURTHER RECORD HAS BEEN FOUND UNTIL HIS ARRIVAL IN CALIFORNIA. 1. [VTADDISO] SAGE, Gideon & GOODRICH, Rhoda Family
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: WLMorrison Surnames: SAGE, GOODRICH, WILLIAMS Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.vermont.counties.addison/3084/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Sometime before 1790 Gideon SAGE and his family moved to Middlebury, Addison, VT. The family is reported in the 1790 census with 3 males over 16, 1 male under 16 and 2 females. In the 1800 census just Gideon and Rhoda are reported together. Son, David is recorded in the next household and son, Elizur (Eleazur) is listed just a short distance away. The children that I have for Gideon and Rhoda are: (most unverified) Gideon Jr. (b. 1762) Samuel (b. 1767) Elizur (b. MAY 1770) Millscent (b. 1772) David (b. 1774) Either Gideon Jr. or Samuel did not migrate with the rest of the family or one of them died before the migration took place. See 1790 census. I am currently working on this phase. All of Elizur's children were born in Middlebury, Addison, VT and Elizur died there in 1813. Most of the information garnered so far is from Elizur's Bible. I will share any and all information that I have on this family. I would also appreciate anyone that is associated with this family to get in contact with me at wlmorrison@charter.net Thank you.
