Per the 1870 Bell Plaine Township Census, he is 32 (but born 7/12/1835, so he'd be 34 or 35) m to Elisa age 27, with children Alice 8, Willard 6, Charles 4, and Edith 2. Erastus d 11/26/1897, buried in WI. Willard's children are Florence, Dewey, Fern Marie, Lee, Mary E. and R.M. Willard married Mary Elizabeth VanNorman, dau. of S. & Lucy VanNorman. In the 1850 census in Burlington, WI, Erastus is 15 (1835 birth fits in) and living with his sister Sarah, 12, with the Lewis family - who and where were his parents? I did notice a Lewis family name in Addison County, VT, with Darling children, but how could this young 15 yo Erastus have had children in VT? Does anyone have any further info to put this together? Normally, I order microfilm of deeds, wills and such in from the Mormon Church, but they don't have any of this kind of information for Addison County. Apparently, the records are held in the townships or villages, not at the county level. Maybe someone who lives in Vermont can verify this practice for me. Anyway, given that, I need to find the Lore/Lord and Hill records in the time period from about 1800 to about 1835 in the records in an attempt to discover the parents of my Anthony Lore/Lord born in 1806 in Canada. Addison District Probate Court covers all of Addison County. Some of the early probate records were burned. Each town in Vermont has their own records filed with the town clerk; that includes vital records and land records. The vital records start about 1760, but many early records were never recorded.
