I am going to phone him and verify this again and see if he remembers anything else. This was told to me two years ago when I first started all of the research and I did not write it down.

He married Orpha Corey on 8 June 1836 in Stanbridge, Quebec (would have been Lower Canada then) and they lived in St. Armand West which is in the vicinity. I know that my G,.grandfather Hamlet Marcellus Carter married his wife Eliza Wightman on 14 July 1880 in Milford N.H. but they were both living in Stanbridge at that time. Then his son, Rev. Linden James Carter married to Bertha M. Ellis moved to the States. My Mum thinks it was in the Boston area but is not sure. I have been unsuccessful in finding who James Carter originated from other than the US. Also there is an ancestral chart of the Wightman side of the family done for Linden and I would love to get a copy of that! I hope this will be of some use to both of us. Thanks Gail

He was a friend of my Nathan Jaquays ( b 1739 in Narragansett). Nathan had a granddaughter Sarah Jaquays that married Welcome Wilson line about 1828 in Ferrisburgh. Welcome wilson's mother was Thankful ( Jaquays or Carter) . Thankful was thought to be either a daughter of Joseph Jaquays or William Carter, both friends of Nathan Jaquays. What time from are you looking for? There is also a Carter family whose daughter was captured from Deerfield MA in the 1700s. She married an Indian, and their grandchildren came to visit the Cater family later.
