Hi June and John, Thanks!! I will write to the town clerk and see if any records can be found. . . .Thanks again, Lynn
Hi June, It was my understanding that the courthouse in Middlebury burned in 1850 and all records were lost. Was that a county courthouse and the town records were kept elsewhere? Lynn
The town records for Middlebury may have the records for your Chittenden ancestor. June ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

The Henry Sheldon Museum has a research center that has some records and all the Middlebury newspapers. Their website is, www.henrysheldonmuseum.org . Good luck and if I run across anything I will keep you posted. Hello, I found in Middlebury's Case St. Cemetery listings recorded in the Branches & Twigs magazine a Mrs. Ruth Chittenden, widow of David Chittenden died May 5th, 1857 aged 74 years, 10 months and 10 days. Also a Nelson Chittenden died April 28, 1880 at age 69. There was also in the same cemetery a Cynthia, wife of D.W. Chittenden, died August 30, 1858, age 36. Does this help you at all? I didn't see any mention of Myron. He was living in New Haven for the 1800 census, with three sons under 10, and in 1810 and 1820 he was living in Middlebury. He may or may not have had two wives, first a Betsy and then Ruth. Ruth was living with son Nelson in 1850 and there was another Chittenden, David W, on the same census page. Basically I'm trying to link my ancestor Myron or Miron Chittenden to David. I recieved information some time ago that Miron was David's son but that it couldn't be proved because the courthouse in Middlebury burned down. Any information on David will be gratefully recieved! I've found him mentioned a couple of times in the Addison county history that is online through Middlebury college, but no mention of wives or children. Hi Nikki, Thanks for helping out! I had already seen the Case st Cemetery listings though. Myron married Polly Lawrence about 1818 and moved to western New York, and then to Illinois in 1838 and he is buried in Illinois. I'm still trying to link him back to David but apparently the Middlebury records all burned and the birth and death information is lost. I'm considering seeing if there are microfilms of the old newspapers I can interlibrary loan, and just working my way through looking for info! Thanks again, Lynn
