It was attended by a large gathering of relatives and friends, Rev. Father Schaefer officiated, assisted by Rev. Fathers, Coffey of Brandon, Vt. and Boyle of East Dorset, Vt. The burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Giard of Vergennes were Sunday guests of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Giard. The re-organization meeting of the Happy Helper's 4-H club will be held at the home of Mrs. Guy St. George Saturday night. A covered dish supper will be served at 5:30 o'clock. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Pratt and sons were Sunday callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Lucia in Middlebury. The Home Demonstration club met at the home of Mrs. Moses Roberts yesterday afternoon. Word has been received that J. G. Sunderland who is seriously ill at the home of his son in Forest Dale, is recovering. George Sellack and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Sellack and son of Middlebury were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. G. A. St. George. Mrs. Walter Brown is a patient at Mary Fletcher hospital in Burlington. Harry Hutchison of Woodcliff Lake, N. J., and Howard Travis of Hillsdale, N. J. , were week end guests of the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Hutchison. Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Pratt were Sunday guests of Mrs. Gertrude Jefferys in Poultney and visited her son who is a patient at the Rutland Hospital, recovering from injuries received in an automobile accident. Mr. and Mrs. M. T. Wolcott and Miss Kathrine Baldwin and Mrs. Lydia Taylor and son, Robert attended a reception given Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Baldwin of Shoreham in honor of their 25 th wedding anniversary. The Sunshine circle will hold a social at 8 o'clock Friday night. Following the supper, an entertainment by the children will be given. Ray Bliss of Rutland was a week-end guest at the home of H. N. Sollace. Mr. and Mrs. O. S. Doane of Burlington are spending a few days at the home of their daughter, Mrs. K. W. Myrick. John Witherill of Middlebury was a Sunday guest of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Witherill. Mr. and Mrs. K. W. Myrick are visiting relatives in Brattleboro while Myrick is deer hunting. Mrs. Elizabeth Pitkin has returned to Schroon Lake, N. Y., after visiting Mrs. Edward Wimett. E. E. Davis is ill. Mr. and Mrs. John Moham and family of Shoreham have moved into the Fletcher house. Mrs. George Sellack of Middlebury is a guest at her daughter, Mrs. G. A. George. Mrs. Nina Whittie has returned after visiting Mrs. Mary Norton of Vergennes.

Moore. Mr. and Mrs. George Fisher of Gloucester, Mass. are guests at the Smith farm. Miss Margaret Mac Donald is having a two weeks' vacation and Mrs. Macauley is caring for Madame Mixer during her absence. Mrs. Josephine Lee is a guest of Mrs. Elizabeth Smith. The Moravrian club met with Mrs. W. G. Larabee Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Asa Smith of Foxboro, Mass., called on friends in town last Sunday. Mrs.Eva Merritt is ill with rheumatism. Mrs. Burnell is caring for her. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Caswell and Charles Ward and Sister Maria left Wednesday for a motor trip to Montreal. Mr. and Mrs. I. P. Sharon and Mr. and Mrs. J. C. R., will meet at the club rooms in Shoreham at 2 o'clock next Wednesday. Mrs. Emogene W. Munger, Mrs. Grace Blackmer and Mrs. Ralph A. Blackmer, with Mrs. Rollin S. Bishop of Brandon visited Mrs.Mabel Stevens in Rutland Wednesday, Mrs. Emogene Munger remaining for a longer stay. Mrs. Charles Wisell and son, Thaddeus Wisell, visited Fordyce A. J. Wisell and family in Rutland last week. Charles and Harold Wisell returning to Orwell with them for a week-end visit. Mr. and Mrs. John E. Skinner o Waltham, Mass., were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Olin B. Root over the week-end. Independence lodge of Masons meet tomorrow night for work on the Master Mason degree. It is expected that District Deputy Grand Master J. Wesley Murdock of Middlebury will make his annual visit to the lodge at this time. The horsesheds at the rear and west side of the Congregational church, are being tore down.

Sieders will leave town tonight for his home in Pennsylvania for a two weeks vacation. W. A. Burch and wife have returned from their carriage trip.

Rotax, 77, who died at his home Saturday evening, will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Bristol, Vt. Mr. Rotax was born in Goslar, Germany, Feb. 12, 1885, the son of Adolphus and Augusta Rotax. He came to Monkton, Vt. at the age of 10, and had worked all his life on his farm here. Survivors include his wife, the former Bessie Stilson; six sons, Wilhelm of New Haven, Vt., Edward and Rudolph of Monkton, Vt., Adolph and Warren of North Ferrisburg, Vt., and Paul of Lincoln, Vt.; three daughters, Mrs. Lena Cyr of Cornwall, Vt., Mrs. Augusta Weaver of Mechanicville, N. Y., and Mrs. Roberta Brundige of Valley Falls, N. Y.; and 23 grandchildren. Burial will be in the Quaker Cemetery in the spring. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The family requests that flowers be omitted.

(Abraham's first wife was Sarah Niles) Esther had a brother David and a sister Elizabeth, both of whom married in Monkton: David married Polly Thomas; Elizabeth married Nathaniel Clark.     2. Source, Rutland, Vt. Herald--Feb. 7, 1899. MIDDLEBURY, VT. The body of Mrs. Peter Donnelly was brought here Sunday morning and the funeral was held from St. Mary's church, Mr. Gelot officiated. She was a sister to James McMahon, who lives on College hill. She was 86 years old and her death was caused by a severe attack of pneumonia. Three sons and two daughters survive.

    2. Source, Rutland Vt. Herald--Feb. 7, 1899. MIDDLEBURY, Vt. Chester W. Ross died at his late home on Franklin street, Middlebury, Vt. Sunday evening. Mr. Ross has been ill for the past year and for the past seven weeks had been confined to the bed. His death was caused by cancer of the liver. Three daughters survive, Mrs. Thomas A. Little of Bloomington, Ill., and Misses Lillie and May Ross of Middlebury. He was 79 years old and was born in Royalton, Vt. in 1820. He has been a resident of Middlebury for 67 years. He was a veteran of the civil war, enlisting in company E, 14th Vermont. The funeral will be held from his late home this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Carlson will officiate.

He died in the Porter Hospital. He was born in East Middlebury, Vt. on December 8, 1855, the son of Thomas and Matilda (Leno) Reed. He is survived by his wife, and a son, William, of East Middlebury. Burial will be in Prospect cemetery.

I have found in the IGI a family group record of the following Chapman family that I believe is the family I am looking for. Charles Chapman ?born 1847, Middlebury? ?married about 1872, Middlebury? - to Mary Jane Hewitt ?born 1851, Mendon Rutland county? children; John William, b 28 June 1873 Middlebury, d 26 Nov 1895 Mary, b 7 Dec 1876 Middlebury, d 8 Aug 1906 Cora M., b 14 Nov 1879 Middlebury, d 2 Oct 1902 Eva A, 6 Dec 1884 Middlebury Ida A(or C), 6 Dec 1884 Middlebury Ida married Charles Frank Bruce sometime between 1900 & 1910. They lived in Rutland. They had one child - Charles Frank Bruce Jr., b. 23 Oct 1923. Ida died the following year Sept 12, 1924. Eva A. married Stephen Brown and had 2 sons, Harold and Stephen Jr.. The nephew Charles Frank Bruce was living with them in 1930 census. I would like to hear from anyone researching these people.     2. Source, Rutland Vt. Herald--Jan. 10, 1933. EDWARD NICHOLS BURIED. VERGENNES, Vt., Jan. 9--Edward Nichols, who died Wednesday, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George L. Palmer, where he had been staying for the past few months, was buried in Bridport,Vt. Friday. Funeral services were held at the Palmer home at 2 o'clock. Mr. Nichols was born October 16, 1857, in Peru, N. Y., and moved to Bridport, Vt. in1875. In his early he was a school teacher, and later was the founder ad owner of the Bridport, Vt. Cheese factory, which he operated until he sold it to his son. He was the first master of the Bridport Grange, and in 1916 represented the town of Bridport in the state Legislature. Mr. Nichols was married November 21, 1882, to Mary A. Bacon, only daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. W. N. Bacon. She died in November, 1921 and 10 years later he married Mrs. Deil Russell Weick of Boston, now deceased. Mr. Nichols is survived by two daughters, Mrs. O. H. Sherbino of Bethel, Vt. and Mrs. G. L.Palmer of Vergennes; one son, Dr. H. E. Nichols of Yonkers, N.Y., four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and two sisters, Mrs. Amy Harris and Mrs. J. G. Sunderland of Bridport.
