They have some early newspaper files. You can check H. P. Smith, ed., History of Addison County Vermont (Syracuse NY 1886) on line at <www.middlebury.edu/~lib/AddisonCoHistory/DirectoryHAC.html> There must have been several men named Jonathan Preston in the county’s early history: p. 256 (Middlebury) dates his arrival on Munger Street to 1786 from New Canaan, NY. His death is given as 1809 at age 63. Son Asa is mention and Asa’s sons, Benham and Buell. Probably this same Jonathan is mentioned on p. 266 in a list of surveyors of highways in 1788. p. 495 with a date of 1813 Jonathan Preston signs a notice to Lincoln proprietors and land owners relative to taxes.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/nAC.2ACI/1514 Message Board Post: Hi there,, I am wondering if anyone in Vermont would have an Irving J .Duprey in there family tree, or might have any information on him at all. He would be my grandmother Marie Emma Duprey's(Dupre) father. Irving was married to Sarah Duchaine, and it was quickly anulled, and later she was to remarry William J. Byers. My grandmother Sarah was born in May 29,1899.She had my grandmother MArie Emma very young,Sarah's godparents I believe were David Blair and Mary (Ozite?)Ethier. MY grandmother Marie Emma Duprey was born Sept 8,1904(5) to Irving(Irvin?) and Sarah. Sarah Duchaines mother and father were Albert Duchaine and Mary Sara Ethier. When my grandmother was a teenager, her father Irving took her to California for awhile, and there she went to telegraph and telephone school.and then later around 18 years of age she returned to her native town of Mooers,,Sciota area and met her newfounded husband Earl Trudell. They were married Oct.27,1924. Irving J. Duprey remarried a french woman, and we know nothing about her. Or for that matter him. He would be my mothers grandfather.I do know that he was buried in Alemeda Co. California,,I do believe his family was from Vermont. I have a picture of some Duprey's ( Dupre) in Vermont, and i believe one of the names on the picture says Elmer possibly. I see a link between Vermont and Clinton County area,,(Sciota, Mooers,,) I also have one picture of Irving J. Dupre,,,The picture of the Dupreys in vermont have 13 people in it,,One i believe is Sarah my Gr Grandmother. I would be willing to send the picture, and maybe you could compare your old photos and make a link somewhere. My mother would love to know more about her grandfather Irving. I believe his middle name was James, and the last names spelling i have seen it spelled a couple of ways,( Duprey, Dupre) with a accent over the "e". Would appreciate any help,,,thanks
