Source, Rutland Vt.Herald--Mon. Sept.24,1951. CLARENDON, Vt. Sept.23-George F. Richards, 60, of Clarendon, Vt. owner of Vermont Gardens, inc., died suddenly in his home tonight of a heart attack. He was born on February 21, 1891, and was a member of Otter Creek Grange, Killington Pomona and the Vermont Shade Tree association. Surviving are his wife, the former Ruth Shelton; two daughters, Mrs. Mary E. Wideawake of Middlebury, Vt. and Mrs. Ruth B. Tarbell of Wallingford, Vt.; three sons, Miles of Rutland, Vt., George E. of Cuttingsville, V., and Tilton B. in the Navy; two brothers, Prescott W. Richards of Florence, Mass., and Edward A. of Washington; a sister, Miss Susan D. Richards of Washington; and nine grandchildren. The body was removed to the Congdon Funeral home in Wallingford pending funeral arrangements.

Simonds, first selectman in Brandon, Vt., died suddenly at her home here tonight.She was born in Ferdinand, Quebec, May 15,1884, daughter of John and Margaret (Williamson) Donaghy. She was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, the Eastern Star, and St. Thomas Auxiliary. Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Russell W. Simonds of St. Albans, Vt. ; two daughters, Mrs. Curtis S. Crosby of Whiting, Vt., and Mrs. Merle S. Moffatt of Brandon, Vt.; a sister, Mrs. Harry B. Woods of Northfield, Vt.; and seven grandchildren. The body will be at the Simonds home at 7 Union st., where friends may call. The funeral will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in St. Thomas Church, the Rev. Robert Riemenschneider officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.

Nye, 86, died Saturday, Sept. 25, 1999, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington after a brief illness. He was born May 13, 1913, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the son of George and Jessie (Field) Nye. He was a member of Washington Lodge No. 3, F&AM, in Williston. He retired as a Mt. Philo park ranger, where he worked for 14 years. Also, he was an avid woodworker and he made and repaired furniture. He is survived by three children, R. Robert Nye and wife Ruth of Florida, Gail and husband Fred Aube of Jonesville and Foster W. Nye and wife Nanci of Charlotte; six grandchildren; several great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Neva (Miller) Nye, a son, Andrew F. Nye, and a daughter, Sandra McDonald. Funeral services were held on Wednesday at North Ferrisburgh United Methodist Church. Inter-ment was in North Ferrisburgh Cemetery. Source, Rutland Vt. Herald--Sat. Aug. 7, 1937. MIDDLEBURY, Vt. Aug. 6--George Louis Dragon, a resident of East Middlebury, Vt. for over 50 years, died at his home there this afternoon. He was born in Leicester,Vt. August 25, 1966, the son off Daniel and Lucinda (Grant) Dragon. He is survived by two brothers, Edward T. and Daniel H. Dragon of Ripton, Vt.; a sister, Mrs. Lucy Chase of Lincoln, Vt. and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at St. Mary's church Monday morning at 9 o'clock, DST, Rev. T.J. Leonard officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery.

MacLaughlin, in Syracuse, N.Y., were held here yesterday afternoon, with burial in Gage cemetery, Ferrisburg, Vt. Mrs.Field was born October 6, 1860, in Monkton, Vt., daughter of Peter and Matilda (Fortin) Parent. She was married October 8, 1881, to Henry Sears, who died in 1901. In October, 1910, she married Felix Field of Vergennes, Vt, who died in January 1931. Surviving relatives are a daughter, Mrs. J. E. MacLaughlin, by her first marriage ; two grandchildren ; a step-daughter, Mrs. Maybelle Field Leffingwell of Syracuse, N.Y. ; two sisters, Mrs. Harriet Douglass of Ferrisburg,Vt. and Mrs. Celinda Hagen of Cobleskill, N.Y.

He was married March 25, 1845, to Sophia Gregory, who died December 9, 1866, leaving two sons--Michael D. and Harvey W. He married his second wife, Mrs. Nancy Meader, of Lincoln, Vt., on December 1, 1867. They have had one daughter born to them--Emma S. (born December 18, 1870). She had by her first husband, John C. Meader, four children. W. R. Hays was a son of Seymour and Hannah Brydia Hays. He was born on August 20, 1780, and died on October 6, 1852, and Hannah was born on November 20, 1780. They had a family of nine children--Henry, Alonson, Samuel, Michael D., Rufus C., Seymour, Hial C., Hannah C., William R. Two are now living -- Seymour and William R. Mrs. Hays died June 21, 1861."

John Mitchell, born 1803 VT. (father Salmon--in 1810 census of Rutland Co.) ; Issac Newton b 1806 VT died 1888, son Frances Newton b 1835 with wife A. Goff, son Silas b 1829 with wife Miss Whitbeck. This Newton family ends up in Macomb Co Michigan. Salmon Mitchell dies in the War of 1812, but son, John goes to NY, (near woodstock and marries Nelly Smith, daughter of Henry Smith and Leah Vandenberg)) then Lapeer,Michigan.
