    2. Source, Rutland, Vt. Daily Herald--Mon.Oct.21, 1918. CASUALTIES. Washington, Oct.20--The army casualty lists issued by the war department for Saturday afternoon, Sunday and Monday morning contain 2488 names. The casualties to date total 52,104, divided as follows ; Killed in action (including 293 at sea) 10,087 ; died of wounds, 3572 ; died of disease, 2943 ; died of accident or other causes, 1112 ; wounded in action, 28,438 ; missing in action, including prisoners, 5952. In the Monday list there are 1048 names, divided as follows ; MONDAY LIST. Killed in action, 102 ; missing in action , 165; wounded (degree undetermined ,) 287 ; died of airplane accident, 4 ; died of accident and other causes, 9 ; died of disease, 185 ; died wounds,112 ; wounded severely, 155 ; slightly wounded , 38 ; total 1048. MARINE CORPS. Killed in action, 17; died of wounds received in action, 7 ; died of disease, 8; wounded in action, severely, 39; wounded in action slightly , 2 ; wounded in action , degree undetermined, 10 ; in hands of enemy, 2 ; missing in action, 45 ; total 130. VERMONT HONOR ROLL. Allen W. PITKIN, Quechee, severely wounded. Lieut. Guy R. CHAMBERLIN, Burlington, killed in action. Frederick W. SMITH,Burlington severely wounded. Preston L. BLACK, Thetford Center, severely wounded. Dennes (sic) E. MALONEY, Middlebury, killed in action. George W. MITSON, Newport, killed in action. William P.MURPHY ,Rutland, wounded, degree undetermined (previously mentioned in the Herald.) Arthur J. TOOF, Franklin, slightly wounded. George SHEEHAN, Burlington, missing in action.
