    2. Source, Rutland, Vt.Daily Herald--Thur.Oct.18, 1917. RUTLAND, VT. JOHN J. DOLAN'S INJURIES FATAL. The death of John Joseph Dolan of 51 Prospect street, occurred at 6:20 o'clock last evening at the Rutland hospital of injuries received Tuesday when he fell from the Rutland railroad "flier" to New York on which he was trainman. Mr.Dolan's condition was known to be very serious from the first and throughout yesterday he failed steadily. Mr. Dolan is survived by her wife, formerly Miss Catherine Cragin of Castleton, Vt., to whom he was married in Castleton, September 17, 1889 ; one sister, Mrs. George T. McKeogh of Morse Place, a brother, George T. Dolan of Pittsford, Vt., and two nieces Miss Minnie E. McKeogh of Morse Place and Mrs. Ruth Dolan of New York. Mr. Dolan had lived in Rutland about 30 years and had been employed by the Rutland railroad half of that time.He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and of St. Peter's Hibernian Benevolent union. Just how the accident happened, in which Mr. Dolan was mortally hurt, will never be known as the train was far on its way from the place where he fell, just south of Arlington, Vt.,before he was missed. Then a wire was sent back to search for him and a freight picked him up beside the track. Members of the crew of which Mr. Dolan was one, remember that he did not feel well on Tuesday and that he looked pale. It is believed that he stepped onto the rear platform to recover himself when ill and that he fainted or became dizzy and lost his balance.
