    3. From Gazetteer of Grafton Co., NY, 1709 - 1886: Hanover & Lebanon, NH, & Hartford, & Norwich, now VT, were part of a block of towns granted by Gov. Benning WENTWORTH, 4 July 1761, in consequence of a petition presented in Dec. 1760, by Edmund FREEMAN & Joseph STORRS, on behalf of about 240 men from Connecticut. Grantees in Hanover included Edmund (3), Nathaniel (2), Sylvanus (Jr.), Russell, Prince, Jonathan, Otis, & Steven FREEMAN, & Joseph (2), Huckins (2), & Samuel STORRS. Edmund FREEMAN, III, was there by 1765, and Jonathan FREEMAN, 1769.
