(Taken from Journal of May 29, 1885.) The seats for the schoolhouse have at last arrived and are being put in their places. We notice that Fred Cole is building a new fence and otherwise improving his premises on Furnace street. What can it all mean ? Bishop Bissell visited the parish on Monday evening last, and at Trinity church, administered the rite of confirmation to a class of ten, consisting of Ernest Boyce, George Martin, Ned Randall, Misses Jessie Jones, Mary Evans, Gertie Belden, Emily Jones, Grace Moseley, Ione Clark and Lillie Davis. The fact that the bishop would officiate drew together a large congregation, many whom were from adjoining towns. To the first shipment of red slate ever made to Europe was sent the other day from North Granville, N.Y., just over the line from Rutland county. The only red slate in the world is found in four towns of Washington county, N.Y. (Herald & Globe) At the annual meeting of the Morning Star lodge, held last Tuesday evening, the following officers were elected for the year ensuring : J.H.Tay, W. M. ; C.A.Haines,S.W.; M.J. Horton, J.W.; E. Clark, treasurer; F. M. Rood, secretary; Jas. S. Murdock, S. D.; Fred Cole, J. D.; M. J. Jones, organist; H. C. Rann, marshall; Charles F. Boomer, tyler. P. G.
