Bixby Article Title: Rutland Daily Herald Article Date: December 5 1949 Article Description: Obituary of George Tousignant Article Text: G. Tousignant, Musician, Dies At City Hospital. George Tousignant, 53, of North Clarendon, widely-known musician, died early yesterday morning at the Rutland hospital following a brief illness. Born February 4, 1896, in Brandon, he started his career as a pianist and organist at the age of 14, playing at the Rutland Opera house, Grand theater and the Playhouse, now the Paramount theater. Moving to New York city, he was organist at the Cameo and Capitol theaters and was with Keith's vaudeville circuit after going to White Plains, N.Y. In 1929 he returned to Rutland, where he served as organist in several churches, for the past eight years at St. Peter's church. He participated in many local minstrels and played in local orchestras. He was a member of the Holy Name society of St. Peter's church. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Leon Moulton and Miss Eva Tousignant of North Clarendon and Mrs. Herbert Pelkey of 49 Cleveland avenue. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 9 a.m. at St. Peter's church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's cemetery.
