GILCHRIST DIES AT HIS HOME One Of City's Oldest and Best Known Physicians Succumbs at 83 Dr.Oscar James Gilchrist,83,of 79 Center Street,one of Rutland's oldest and best known physicians,died yesterday noon at his home after a long illness. Dr.Gilchrist was born in McIndoes August 8,1849,the son of James and Eliza (Gibson) Gilchrist.He was educated in McIndoes academy and was graduated from Dartmouth college in the class of 1871 and from Long Island College hospital in the class of 1874. He practiced medicine in McIndoes,Peacham and since 1880 in Rutland. Dr.Gilchrist was a member of the Rutland County Medical association,Vermont lodge,Knights of Pythias, and Pulaski lodge of Masons,Wells River. Besides his daughter,Miss Beth Bradfod Gilchrist, Dr.Gilchrist is survived by a sister, Mrs. A.B.Perry of Belmont,Mass.
