Dec. 29--Mrs. Plumley, while hunting eggs in the barn recently, fell , and striking on the sharp edge of a board, fractured two of her ribs. -- Blanchard Clark of Readsboro, Vt. passed Christmas with his parents.--The remains of Mrs. Henry Copeland were brought from Brooklyn, N. Y., and interred in the family lot in Fairview cemetery Thursday--Mrs. Dr. Haynes is visiting friends in Rutland.--L. Gray is passing a few days in Waterbury,Conn.---Cassie Gardner is home from Burlington on account of ill health.---There was a very large attendance at the Baptist church Thursday evening, where two heavily laden Christmas trees bore abundant fruit for young and old. The exercises preceding the distribution of gifts, consisting of recitations, select reading, music ,etc. were appropriate and well rendered---Harry Parker and wife left town Thursday for Illinois, where they intend to reside in the future---As a party of gentlemen, consisting of Dr. A. C. Norton and son, A.A. Greene, E.C. Smith and W. B.Currier, were coasting on the sidewalk on South street Thursday afternoon, the sled became unmanageable, ran, against a tree, throwing the occupants in all directions. Mr. Currier struck the tree with such force as to break his right leg some four inches above the knee. He was carried to his home close by and Dr. L. B. Ross of Poultney hastily summoned, who, assisted by Dr. Norton,set the broken limb. The rest of the party were not seriously injured, though receiving many scratches and bruises.
