Dec. 29--Mrs. Plumley, while hunting eggs in the barn recently, fell , and striking on the sharp edge of a board, fractured two of her ribs. -- Blanchard Clark of Readsboro, Vt. passed Christmas with his parents.--The remains of Mrs. Henry Copeland were brought from Brooklyn, N. Y., and interred in the family lot in Fairview cemetery Thursday--Mrs. Dr. Haynes is visiting friends in Rutland.--L. Gray is passing a few days in Waterbury,Conn.---Cassie Gardner is home from Burlington on account of ill health.---There was a very large attendance at the Baptist church Thursday evening, where two heavily laden Christmas trees bore abundant fruit for young and old. The exercises preceding the distribution of gifts, consisting of recitations, select reading, music ,etc. were appropriate and well rendered---Harry Parker and wife left town Thursday for Illinois, where they intend to reside in the future---As a party of gentlemen, consisting of Dr. A. C. Norton and son, A.A. Greene, E.C. Smith and W. B.Currier, were coasting on the sidewalk on South street Thursday afternoon, the sled became unmanageable, ran, against a tree, throwing the occupants in all directions. Mr. Currier struck the tree with such force as to break his right leg some four inches above the knee. He was carried to his home close by and Dr. L. B. Ross of Poultney hastily summoned, who, assisted by Dr. Norton,set the broken limb. The rest of the party were not seriously injured, though receiving many scratches and bruises.

    2. Source, Rutland Vt.Herald--Thur. Jan. 8, 1891. RUTLAND, Vt. George W. Rugg and wife of St. Albans, Vt. are now domesticated at Mrs. George Houghton's on Cottage street. Mr. Rugg had just entered the employ of Bardy & Wilson. Hon. H.Henry Powers of Morrisville, Vt. will be in Rutland on next Monday on his way to Chicago to attend the reunion of the Sons of Vermont , on which occasion he will delver an address. Alfred Turner, having passed the holiday vacation at his home, returned to Amherst on Wednesday to resume his studies. LeRoy Phillips also of Amherst college goes back this forenoon.

    2. Source, Rutland Vt.Herald--Thur.Jan. 8, 1891. WEST RUTLAND, Vt. J. W. Grant is visiting his parents in Bristol. During his absence his business is in charge of John P.Roddy. W.W.Graham, who has been sick from pneumonia, is rapidly recovering. He received a telegram yesterday announcing the death of his brother, James Graham of Rockford, Iowa, from the same disease, after a sickness of only four days. The recent rain and freeze-up has made considerable work on the street railway necessary.Men have been busy cutting and cleaning away the ice from the tracks. John S.Tuttle has sold his house and lot on Clarendon avenue to James Hornage of North Adams, Mass. Possession is to be given April 1,next, consideration $ 2750.50. Mr. Tuttle will make Rutland his future home. The annual meeting of the Congregational church will be held this evening. The members and friends of Grace church are anticipating an enjoyable time at Mr. Felt's tonight. The continued good sledding gives the lumbermen a happy appearance. Every available team is in use. Several are hauling lumber for Mr. Manley from his Shrewsbury farm.

    2. Source, Rutland Vt.Herald--Thur.May 12,1927. COUNTY COURT WILL TRY ALLEGED GHOULS. Bernard Fassett and John Gleason Are Bound Over By City Judge Kinney. The cases of Bernard Fassett of this city (Rutland) and John Gleason of Hydeville, Vt., who are charged with desecration of a grave in Evergreen cemetery, will be threshed out in Rutland County court. Both men were bound over to the County body yesterday under bail of $ 500 after a preliminary hearing before City Judge Clayton H. Kinney.Gleason furnished surety for his release but Fassett, who is a probationer, probably will be locked up until his case is called. The state called only three witnesses at the hearing, which was conducted by State's Attorney Lawrence C. Jones. Jack A. Crowley being counsel for the respondents. Hollis I. Loveland, superintendent of the cemetery testified that he had discharged Gleason the day previous to the alleged offense. Frank Shedd, who lives near the burial lot, told of finding the two respondents digging in the cemetery late at night when he went there to ascertain the source of noise which attracted his attention. A man who accompanied Shedd also testified and it was shown that the two had some words with the so-called ghouls. No defense was introduced but it was inferred from questions asked by counsel for the respondents that it will be claimed that no malice was shown in any acts that the men may have committed.

Culter of Grove street has received an announcement of the marriage of Dr. Donald Miller Clark of this city and Miss Florence Francena Billings, daughter of Mrs. May Jackson Billings of Providence, R.I. The wedding took place recently in Providence. Dr. Clark, who was a graduated from the university of Vermont College of Medicine in 1926, is now at the Beverly City hospital at Beverly, Mass. he made his home with Mrs. Cutler until recently. Dr. and Mrs. Clark will reside in Beverly, Mass.

    2. Source, Rutland Vt.Herald--Sat.Dec.27,1890. WEST RUTLAND, Vt. Patrick Tigue, jr., after an absence of two years, is enjoying the holidays with friends in town. Miss Addie Mackerney of Troy, N.Y., is in town for a few days. John Ryan, who has been traveling throughout the west in the interest of the Albertson Marble company, returned home in season for Christmas. The annual Christmas festival of the Episcopal society occurred last evening. W. R. Gilmore has commenced taking a second crop of ice from his ice pond. The R.H.S. quartet very pleasantly entertained their friends on Barnes street Thursday evening. Their songs, quaint and comic, with harmonious and mellifluous selections, were much enjoyed. Morris Moriarty and wife have returned from their Christmas visit at Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Mr. Anthony Deacy gave the inmates of the poor farm a royal feast of good things on Christmas day. Roast turkey, plum pudding and pies,with all needed accessories under the skillful hand of the good housewife, greeted the eyes of the boarders as the bell rang for dinner. Nor was this all. A well-loaded Christmas tree bore fruit to each member , reminding them of the joyous time of year. The poor surely were not forgotten and are enthusiastic in their praises of " Sir Anthony ".

    2. Source, Rutland Vt.Herald--Sat.Dec.27,1890. MANCHESTER, Vt. " Aunt " Anna Bourn, as she was generally known, who died in Manchester, Vt., on Dec. 17, was over 93 years old, having been born in Windham, Vt., on October 15, 1797. Her first husband was Moses Lester of Rutland, Vt. ; and after her second marriage, to C. H. Bourn of Manchester, Vt.,they lived for a time in Mendon, Vt., where the first church was erected largely through her efforts . She was widely known and beloved.

    2. Source, Rutland Vt. Herald--Sat. Dec.27, 1890. RUTLAND, Vt. STATE STREET WEDDING. Pritchard-Clark Nuptials on Christmas Evening. At No. 1 State street on Christmas evening occurred the marriage of Richard O. Pritchard to Miss Jessie M. Clark. About 75 friends and relatives of the contracting parties were present during the ceremony , which was performed by Rev. S. McLaughlin. Charles D. Howard acted as groomsman and Mrs. Augusta Parsons was the bridesmaid. The house was extensively decorated with evergreen and flowers, and during the ceremony the bride and groom stood under a horseshoe of evergreen. After the wedding a reception was held and refreshments were served. Dancing was then indulged in until a late hour.

The condition of P.L.Comerford, who has been ill most of the winter, is not much improved. Miss N.B.Comerford, who has been confined to her bed the past winter, is able to be dressed. Mrs. James Perkins passed Sunday in Castleton, Vt. Mrs. Charles Powers has recovered from her late illness. Mrs. Henry Miner of Mendon was guest of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Smith for the week-end, returning Sunday accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Foster Hurlbert has purchased a new car. Mrs. Mariette Emery, 88, has returned from Brooklyn where she passed the winter. She lives alone and does all her own work.

    2. Source, Rutland Vt.Herald--Thur. May 12,1927. CASTLETON, Vt. Robert Foster, 76, died at his home north of the village at 12:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon. He had been ill since Thanksgiving with a complication of diseases. He was born May 19, 1850. He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Mary Steemburg of Mendon, Vt.; one sister, Mrs. Matilda Ward of Canada. Mr. Foster was a member of the West Rutland Vt.Baptist church, of Hiram lodge, F. and A.M., West Rutland, and Bomoseen Grange of Castleton. For a number of years he was treasurer of the Christian Endeavor County union and also took an active part in the local society as long as he was able to attend. He had served as master of Bomoseen Grange.

    2. Source, Rutland Vt.herald--Wed. Jan.7, 1891. HYDEVILLE, Vt. Mrs. Wiswell, wife of J. H. Wiswell of Hydeville, Vt., died at her residence there Friday after quite a painful and long illness. Her funeral was attended from St.James''s Episcopal church, Hydeville, Sunday afternoon. The interment was in the new cemetery by the side of her daughter who died quite suddenly only a few weeks ago while visiting friends in Michigan. Mr. Wiswell has the sympathy of many friends in his double bereavement.

    2. Source, Rutland Vt.Herald--Wed.Jan. 7, 1891. POULTNEY, Vt. Albert D., sixth son of R .J. Humphrey of Poultney, Vt., died Monday morning at 7;30 o'clock, aged 19 years and 6 months. Last May he contracted a severe cold, which it was soon thought would terminate in consumption, and although everything that was possible was done for him, he showed a rapid decline. Last month he was taken by his father to New York ,where it was hoped he could receive treatment , but the examining physicians pronounced the case too far advanced and feared that an inoculation would prove fatal. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock ,the Rev. E.H. Randall, rector of Trinity Church, officiating.

    2. Source, Rutland Vt. Herald--Mon.Aug. 26,1912. RUTLAND, Vt. Mrs. Mary A. Mabury, wife of the late George H. Mabury, died at her home, 99 Plain street, Rutland,Vt., at 12:11 o'clock this morning of senile debility.She was 81 years old and had been been in failing health for sometime,but had been considered seriously ill only a week. She was born in Bath Me. but had been a resident of Rutland,Vt. for more than 40 years. Mrs. Mabury was a member of the First Baptist Church. She is survived by a son, E. C.Mabury of Rutland, and two daughters, Mrs. C.H. Congdon of Rutland, Vt. and Mrs. John J. Fish of Baldwinsville, Mass. Thurs. Aug. 29, 1912. The funeral of Mrs. Mary Mabury, who died at her home on Plain street, Sunday , was held at the house yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The bearers were E.C. Mabury, C.H. Congdon, C.H. Congdon, jr. and C.E. Capron all relatives of the deceased. Rev. F.W. Irvin of the Baptist church officiated and burial was in Evergreen cemetery. Among those present were C.E. Capron and Ray Capron of Bellows Falls, Vt., Miss Mabel Edson and Capron Edson of Malden, Mass. and J.J. Fish of Baldwinsville, Mass.

She had been sick but one week. She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Smith of Hubbardton, Vt.,one son, Charles McKeown of Fair Haven, Vt.; two brothers, William Buchanan of Benson, Vt. and Alexander Buchanan of Canada ; a sister , Mrs Frank Charlton of Orwell, Vt., and 12 grandchildren. Prayers will be said at noon Sunday,the body will be taken Benson, Vt. and the funeral held at the Methodist church at 2:30. Burial will be in Benson new cemetery.
