I'm looking for the parents for my Beuford T. Murphy (Murphey). He was born 1810 in Botetourt Co. (Amsterdam), VA I have him on 1840, 1850, 1860 and 1970 Census of Botetourt, and I have his wife and all of his children. and yes, I have searched both the Murpheys and the Murphy's. The "e" has been interchanged from one decade to another. The only link that I have been able to find about his parents is his mother's name, Frances. She is listed in the 1850 Census living with him and his family, and was age 60 in 1850, putting her birth about 1790. According to the 1850 census, she was born in Virginia. BUT I HAVE NO MAIDEN NAME! I have no other information on him, only that he was born in Botetourt Co., in 1810. Of course, the 1850 census only has his mother's first name and married name, not maiden. I know nothing of his mother's family, or who his father was, or even if they originated in Botetourt.
