    1. Re: [VIRGINIA] 1908 birth records
    2. Hi Marg & all, The state of Virginia kept records of births and death from 1853-1896 on register pages, that is alot of people who were born within the same year on and their information on large pages, and in the case of death records alot of people who died within the same year and their information on large pages. Only about half of the deaths were reported and not all of the births ecause they were noit required ot be then. Between 1897-June 13th of 1912 the state of Virginia kept no records of deaths or births due to budget cuts at the time. Then on June 14th of 1912 they started keeping individual certificates of births and deaths which continue to this day. I believe they were required to report the births and deaths starting at the same time. Some counties and cities kept their own records for births and/or deaths during that time. You may want to try county or city courthouses to see if they have records for the missing years. Hope this helps. God bless, Beth :) [email protected] > Hi List: > > Can anyone tell me if birth records from 1908 exist?
