Capt. John Goddin Jr., son of Capt. John Goddin Sr. (b abt 1738) and Priscilla Hamner (b 1755)(one wife of 4), was born 19 Feb 1780. John Jr. died 22 Feb 1864 and his will was probated 7 Mar 1864 in Henrico County Court, Virginia. I am interested in his marriage on 5 Jun 1804 to Roxanna Ford (25 May 1785 -16 Jun 1865). I don't know anything about the FORDs. John Jr. and Roxanna's children were: Albert Goddin Birth: 6 Sep 1805 Gustavus Goddin Birth: 24 Jun 1808 Adolphus Goddin Birth: 10 Oct 1810 James City County, Virginia Death: 12 Oct 1889 Richmond, Virginia Spouse: Martha Isabella (Ma-bel) Syme (m 3 Nov 1836) Spouse: Ann Eliza <Unknown> (m bef 1864) Clarke Roxanna Goddin Birth: 23 Feb 1813 Wellington Goddin Birth: 26 Aug 1815 Bennet Goddin Loretta (Laura) Goddin Birth: 13 Aug 1818 Adolphus is my 3rd gr-grandfather. In 1860, he owned 4 slaves in Charles City County, VA. By 1880, he was living in Powhatan and listed in the census as a farmer. His daughter Adelaide Victoria married William HAYNES, also of Charles City Co. There is extensive information about Wellington, especially in Richmond, but I have found very little about his brother (and my ancestor) Adolphus.
